DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI - The [British] Virgin Islands (VI) has announced a UK travel ban effective January 11, 2021, amidst concerns of new COVID-19 variants around the world.

The announcement was made at today's December 31, 2020, Fifth Sitting of the Third Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom, Tortola.

Making the announcement was Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Maline (AL) however, he said some exceptions will apply.

Some exceptions

The UK travel ban does not apply to returning VI nationals, belongers, residents, work permit holders, persons permitted to reside in the territory, diplomats, and persons employed by government and its statutory bodies and agencies.

Further, "Cabinet decided to implement a 14-days quarantine period for all persons allowed to travel to the BVI under the previously mentioned exceptions, provided that they undergo and RT-PCR testing regime on days 0 of entry, day 7 and day 14," Hon Malone went on to say.

"Cabinet decided to use 20 positive cases as a trigger to inform a decision by cabinet regarding travel restrictions to the territory except for nationals, belongers, residents, work permit holders, persons permitted to reside in the territory, diplomats, and persons employed by government and its statutory bodies and agencies," Hon Malone noted.

Curfew extended

Meanwhile, the current 2:01 am to 4:59 am daily curfew remains in place until January 15, 2021.

Hon Malone reminded that the VI's protocols have been proven to work and that the territory must be ready to make hard decisions.

These decisions he said, will be implemented when necessary to keep the territory and the lives of the people safe.

What is the reason for keeping the curfew. They can't just extend it without a valuable reason. People this is old years stay out as long as you want to. This is nonsense, we is the majority.

We need to help ourselves first. May not seem like it because of our unselfish generosity with many ungrateful and destructive human imports but there comes a time when we must help ourselves first. Without us plenty of allyo will have sufferation so help us to help ourselves first. Our lives matter and even more than theirs.

You all are so easy to be lead astray . The blogger, and we know who he is by now is just looking confusion with the aim of gaining hits and he doesn't care whether they are likes or dislikes. Furthermore nothing is happening in St Vincent in respect of the volcano that requires anyone to leave the Island. Remember one always reap what they sow. You have been doing this for a long time. Just wait your harvest is coming to you really fast. Be prepare. May the spirit of confusion engulf your life for 2021.

The Island is already overcrowded. Sorry for what is going on but, IT IS TIME FOR THE BVI TO LOOK OUT FOR THEIR OWN LIKE EVERYWHERE. THERE ARE OTHER ISLANDS THE PEOPLE FROM ST. VINCENT CAN GET HELP FROM. SORRY BUT THE USVI IS ALSO OVERCROWDED AND WE ALSO HAVE TO LOOK OUT FOR OUR OWN FIRST.

Mar..., stop trying to make a learned man look small. Wickedness means the act of being evil or morally wrong. Check the context of what the man said. That is it!

@Protest Time, Under the law Bars, are to close at 12:00AM, and Clubs at 2:00 am so really the curfew does not affect the running of clubs or Bars so your protest will not go anywhere. Go home and get some sleep.

We continue to react crazily and follow blindly,,,,, What proof they have of this New virus,, What test did they apply,,, Is it the same nose test,. Is it a blood test,. How do they know it's different and more Contagious if it's New,. What kind of test was done to form These conclusions,,,,All this will soon go away because Bill Gates Now get his main Vaccine approved by England *AstraZeneka* Trump was blocking it, Trump made it clear he didn't want any China and Bill Gates Vaccine which that is,,,,,,So the virus should be disappearing soon,,,

These men preparing us for martial law man? Do they intend to keep this curfew all 2021? All they doing is extending it a few more weeks every time it ends so they don't get retalition from the public.

what i'm not understanding why is it UK sending the bvi AstraZeneka vaccine but UK is taking pfizer vaccine and moderna vaccine something just not adding up,just let the people who making that AstraZeneka vaccine to come down here and take let everyone see that the vaccine works cause i know CDC like to go around using people as ginny pigs, just hope the bvi government know what they are doing getting that vaccine.

Astra Zeneca is a British company. The UK has bought enough to vaccinate 50 million people in the country. Pfizer is a US company as is Moderna. Neither of the latter companies can supply enough to compete with AZ in the UK. The BVI is definitely not being used as guinea pigs, as all the jabs could be used in the UK now. Stop your paranoia and be grateful that the vaccines are being sent here.

All the government is doing is helping its people to be safe from the virus. Many of you are worried about curfew time. We have it good in the BVI. UK on 2 weeks curfew from today. Barbados on curfew from today for 14 days. Please people of the BVI stop complaining and be thankful that we are still alive.

Well if you cant get a prostitute in a club by 2 AM you got a bigger problem than a curfew
