VG man allegedly threatened to kill motorist during road rage

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A Virgin Gorda man was hauled before the Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting and threatening to kill another man in Handsome Bay, Virgin Gorda, on January 22, 2019.

Ricardo S. Leonard aka 'Sammy' allegedly committed the offences when he saw the Virtual Complainant’s (VC) vehicle in a stationary position along the roadway.

The VC had reportedly stopped his vehicle to avoid hitting an animal that was running in the path of his truck.

An argument between the two men started, and the defendant told the VC he was bad minded and, “I will kill your moda sc*nt.”

The VC replied that the defendant should ask questions before he approached people the wrong way. The accused allegedly replied, “Don’t tell me no f#@%. I going to buss you a big slap.”

The VC reportedly told the accused to ‘slap’ him at which point the accused then rushed towards the VC and pushed him.

A report was made at the Virgin Gorda Police Station and Leonard was charged with the offences of common assault and threatening language.

He made his maiden appearance before Magistrate Ayanna O. Baptiste-DaBreo last week.

Leonard's matter was adjourned to November 12, 2019 when he is expected to enter a plea.

    If you are a driver u would understand the frustration. And how many times u barely miss running down a careless rider....Maybe the guy was so close to getting charge for manslaughter when the bike man was driving recklessly...If he had hit him.. . At the maybe that what he was thinking about.

    The police did the right thing and put him before the court. This unruly behaviour MUT Stop. Whether he is from here or not, everyone has a right to use the road. The Magistrate should impose a harsh penalty on him to sent a lesson to the others. If he has a problem then he must go to anger management counselling.

    Sammy needs to learn to control his anger. While he might be an awesome person as stated previously, he can be very anal. In his defense though, the VC did provoke him on that occasion. He’s trying to do better, sometimes confusion presents itself and we should know when to walk away. Sammy, this too shall pass, just try your best to ignore and portray more self restraint when it comes to issues like these. Still...One Love
