CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI- The deplorable state of roads continues to plague residents of the Virgin Islands, with one woman just managing to escape serious injury after her vehicle slid off a damaged road in Cane Garden Bay, on the main island of Tortola yesterday, October 23, 2017.

Reports reaching our newsroom indicate that it was sometime before 7:00 AM when a woman was attempting to ascend a road to the area known as Ants Hill in Cane Garden Bay when her Suzuki SUV began to encounter difficulties on the wet and damaged road.

It is said the woman had attempted to drive past a particular "terrible patch" on the road when her vehicle began to lose traction, and as she applied brakes the vehicle continue to slide downwards.

The woman reportedly managed to come out of the vehicle just before it fell sideways off the road, some 8 feet below.

Persons reported to this news site that the particular road where the incident occurred is in a dangerous state, forcing drivers to traverse close to the edge of the hill to avoid the deep potholes.

The woman was reportedly comforted by persons in the area at the time, including officers of the nearby Cane Garden Bay Police Station.

This news site was told that Public Works Department (PWD) has been notified of the poor state of that road.

It was only this week that a woman blasted the National Democratic Party Government on her Facebook Page over the conditions of the territory's roadways, stating that the roads were in a horrible state even before hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Let's face it . The north side of Tortilla is forgotten people . Any words to the contrary are just a bunch of lies . Tourists ? Are you serious ? Maybe a few politicians should halt their first class flights all arour and actually take a look at the country and how some people are trying to live . THANK GOD FOR SOME OF THE RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS and other volunteers . Aso for the groups of young able bodied " men " taking over the demolished bar in Sea Cows Bay , the baby bikers hanging out in Bellevue , and the Baughears Bay do nothing gang .... Why not grab a shovel or a hammer and at least try or pretend to give a damn about your country ?
