Valentine's Day drama: Man was taking child mother to hotel before cat-fight occurred
"I love Seanna. Why would I want to see her go to prison? I was trying to get Seanna in a hotel room," he testified in court during the trial continuation on January 28 before Magistrate Ayanna O. Baptiste-DaBreo.
When questioned if he was in a relationship with the Virtual Complainant (VC) in the matter, he laughed out loud and said: "I disagree."
He told the court that the VC was a bartender in a bar where he would normally hang out, and would from time to time buy her drinks.
He remarked, that if he was in a relationship with the VC, he would not have visited the bar where she sometimes worked with another woman, or plan on spending Valentine's night with the accused.
Allegations
Jack was arrested and charged for the offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on February 15, 2018.
She pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted bail.
Allegations are that Ms Jack and Mr John were on their way to do grocery shopping when they decided to visit a bar for a drink.
At the bar, was the VC and some friends drinking. After ordering their drinks, the defendant and John took a seat.
The altercation started when the VC ordered drinks and asked the bartender to charge a round of drinks to John's bill.
Jack said she then informed the bartender that it was her bill and no other drinks should be charged to her bill.
Shortly after, Jack said she questioned her companion on the reason he did not purchase a drink for his girlfriend and her friends who sat at a table nearby.
Jack said his response to her question was: "I'm not going to buy no broke @$$ b*#ches no drink," which triggered the VC to hurl a beer bottle made of glass in his direction. The bottle reportedly missed the target and the broken bottle came into contact with Jack's feet.
When Jack took the stand previously, she claimed it was an act of self-defence on her part when she tried to part John, and the VC went south.
Despite her efforts to part the lovers, Jack testified that the VC gave her a hard shove and it was then she fisted her once. She denied kicking her until she became unconscious as per the allegations read in the court.
The VC sustained swelling to her head and was taken to the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital for attention.
Attorney-at-Law Ruthilia Maximea represents the accused.
The matter is listed for decision on March 16, 2020.
