CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- The [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) on Monday, December 4, 2017 reported two alleged rape incidents that affected both male and female victims in the St Thomas-St John and St Croix districts, according to VIPD Public Information Officer Glen Dratte.

Mr Dratte said officers were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center on Sunday December 3, 2017 (no time was given) in reference to a rape incident. Upon their arrival, contact was made with a male victim, who told the officers that he was sexually assaulted by another male in the area of Sorgenfri in St Thomas.

According to Mr Dratte, the victim was examined by medical attendants and a rape kit was administered. The case is under investigation; the VIPD did not announce an arrest in this matter.

Another rape incident

Separately, a St Croix woman reported to the police at approximately 7:32 A.M. on Sunday, that a male acquaintance had sexually assaulted her the day before by pinning her down on a bed and proceeding to sexually assault her, which included fondling.

The suspect, Augustus Actie, 47, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape, along with additional charges of unlawful sexual contact, according to Mr Dratte.

No bail was set as per the territory’s domestic violence ordinance, therefore Mr Actie was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
