Police on Wednesday night contacted The Consortium for immediate publication of the identity of Mr Ireland, who the force believed committed the act. At the time, Mr Dratte said the woman was shot twice, but in today’s (June 22, 2017) release announcing that Mr Ireland had turned himself in, Mr Dratte updated the information, revealing that the ex-girlfriend was allegedly shot five times and stabbed six times by Mr Ireland.

Mr Ireland, whose moniker is “Frankie”, turned himself in at approximately 1:48 AM on Thursday at the Richard Callwood Command. The story had garnered heavy attention on The Consortium’s Facebook platform, receiving over 48,000 views and 400 shares.

Mr Ireland was charged with third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon, brandishing and exhibiting a dangerous weapon, and using a deadly weapon.

As for the female victim, she was immediately transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where she underwent emergency surgery, and is on the path of recovery.
