FRENCHMAN’S CAY, Tortola, VI – As first reported by Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), Police have identified the body of a man found in Frenchman’s Cay Harbour—in the wee hours of Thursday morning, April 25, 2019—as Willy T employee, Branson Read, age 32, of Soper's Hole.

According to a release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), initial inquiries indicate that Read left his place of employment and was travelling back to his boat anchored near the Soper's Hole Marina when the tragedy took place.

Shouts for Help

“Shouts for help alerted persons on shore, who, along with West End Police Officers, rescued Read from the water and transported him to Soper's Hole Marina,” the release notes.

The dinghy, identified as belonging to Read, was still in motion and circling the marina when police arrived at the scene.

According to Police, Read sustained injuries to his head, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations are ongoing and VINO will bring more details as they become available.

Apparently they either saw or heard that someone had something to do with his death. That is what their post is implying and if in fact they do know, they ought to report it.

I wish people who comment stupid sh*t would put their name and phone number on here instead of hiding behind a computer looking attention. Say something bad about this guy, and let us know who you are. Go ahead.

Could not agree more. I still think it’s highly inappropriate for comments to be allowed on articles this when someone has lost their life. He was a wonderful friend and is already so dearly missed.

I totally agree with you. The blogs for these types of tragedies are, for the most part, quite distasteful.

It is my humble opinion that as a means of paying respect to the deceased and in sympathy for the grieving families, the media should show compassion and disallow blogs.

Besides, those unkind blogs do not speak well of our Territory and it’s caring people.

Come on people, remember this is the same guy that pulled the taxi man from the water by Crandall. I think his name was Pemberton.

Branson wasn't a drinker. He was as pleasant a lad as you could hope to meet. Always a sunny character who would help anyone. Please consider the feelings of his poor mother and sisters, who must be devastated by his horrific death.
