UPDATE: Two arrested on Anegada for alleged rape & child porn remanded to prison

Following investigations, two men, a 30 year old Anegada resident and a 40 year old Tortola resident, were this morning, March 28, 2013 charged with offences of Rape and Possession of Child Pornography. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The two men arrested on Anegada and charged for alleged Rape and Child Pornography have been remanded to prison until May 3, 2013.

This is according to a press release just in from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF). 

The men made a court appearance at the Magistrate's Court this morning, March 28, 2013.

Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force last night, March 27, 2013 arrested two male residents of the Territory on suspicion of offences of a serious sexual nature against a minor. 

Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force last night, March 27, 2013 arrested two male residents of the Territory on suspicion of offences of a serious sexual nature against a minor. 

Following a report to the Police, Investigating Officers visited Anegada and detained the two offenders.

Following investigations, the two men, a 30 year old Anegada resident and a 40 year old Tortola resident, were this morning charged with offences of Rape and Possession of Child Pornography. Because of the seriousness of the allegations, they are appearing this morning at the Magistrate's Court.

The investigation is of a sensitive nature and so details of the alleged offenders and the victim are being withheld at present.

Detective Superintendent Alexis Charles of the RVIPF is reported as stating: “The RVIPF will deal with this matter as sensitively as possible, with due regard for the victim and the victim’s family”.
