SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Riky Bautista Familia was laid to rest in his homeland of La Romana in the Dominican Republic, almost two weeks after he was stabbed to death outside a bar in Sea Cows Bay on the main Island of Tortola.

The body of the deceased, who was also affectionially known by friends and family as 'Maco Tica' and ‘Manuel’, was shipped home on November 24, 2012 after a service at Davis Funeral Home in Purcell Estate attended by many in the Hispanic community.

He was buried in La Romana, his city of birth, on Sunday November 25, 2012, as some of his friends and family made the journey home to the Dominican Republic for the burial.

It was on November 16, 2012 when Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were called to the scene outside Maria's Bar, in the vicinity of Cills Dry Goods hardware store, following a report of a fight around 9:40 P.M

When the police officers arrived on that fatal night, they found the deceased with injuries outside the bar. The victim, identified as Ricky Bautista, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. To date, no arrest has been made following the alleged murder.

Police release photo of man wanted for questioning in latest murder

- Two questioned but released without any charges laid

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has released two photos of Alberto Rosa de la Rosa as it appeals to the public for assistance in locating him.

According to Police, de la Rosa is presently a person of interest in the murder last Friday November 16, 2012 of Riky Dennis Bautista Familia.

Rosa de la Rosa, 32, a native of Dominica Republic, is slim built, between 5’7 and 5’9 and 140 pounds. He is an entertainer known locally as ‘Piyoyo’ and may now have a missing tooth as a result of a mouth injury, a press release from the RVIPF stated.

Persons seeing Rosa de la Rosa are asked to call 311 and not to approach him as he is believed to be dangerous. Persons can also give information about his whereabouts anonymously through the Crimestoppers hotline number 800-8477 or 800-TIPS.

An earlier release from the RVIPF had said that two persons were questioned by police but were subsequently released without any charges laid.

Previously, Police had said  they were interested in speaking to two persons – Alberto Rosa Dela Rosa aka Piyoyo and another male only known as ‘La Popi’- in relation to the fatal stabbing of Riky Bautista Familia at a bar in Sea Cows Bay last evening November 16, 2012.

The deceased was also reportedly known as 'Maco Tica' and Manuel among friends and is said to be from the city of La Romana in the Dominican Republic.

According to a source close to the family of the deceased, they were told that the two men were imbibing on the day in question and reportedly were engaged in a heated argument in Long Bush before heading to the bar in Sea Cows Bay which is known as Maria's Bar, located in the vicinity of Cills Dry Goods Store..

The source also said that the stabbing victim was reportedly attempting to flee his attacker but was pursued and caught.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), in a press release on Saturday November 17 said it was investigating the death of a Hispanic man following an incident near a bar in Sea Cows Bay last night.

Officers were called to the scene following a report of a fight around 9:40 P.M. and found the deceased with injuries outside the bar. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after, the release stated.

According to the press release, Ag. Commissioner of Police David Morris noted that while there have been two unfortunate criminal deaths with the past week, these types of incidents are rare and isolated in the Territory and must keep kept at a minimum.

“We are saddened by the senseless loss of these two lives and our condolences go out to the families of these victims. At the same time, we, as a community, must do all to ensure that these incident are kept low. It is important that we report all suspicious behaviour or illegal weapons well in advance of an incident and do our part of ensure that no other lives are lost."

Parents start nurturing your children from the cradle up to be self-respecting members of society.

It takes a village to raise a child....
Each and every one of us has our part to play in saving this nation from going down the road of no return.

A very innovative set of people (humans) no matter what you do anger and violence will still live on and if we intend to kill we will find a way. I'ts up to the individual to know how far to go and how to react when the situation arises.
We are are responsible for our actions whether done in anger or else.

Shall we have a police officer in every bar, on every street corner, that is if there were another few hundred officers to split between the shifts.. The debate is about knife and gun crime, and how we persuade our youth not to pick up weapons. Police patrols help in a small way, but the change has to be made within society as a whole. I note your dislike of UK officers, but either they are in the bars or they aren't. Can't have it both ways .

I don't know how people can expect a police force who could not get the promotion of police officers right without having a system that will be challenged in court to fix crime? This is a no-brainer! I don't know why people expect someone who is only the head of the force because he has a friend in government house to fix crime? The math just does not add up!

Shara, I would hardly call that bar a "hotspot" - I frequent there very often and have done for years, its one place that I can honestly say I have never seen any trouble at. There is no gambling, there is no visible signs that i have seen of drugs, its just a fun and cosy little bar.

Clearly you know nothing about what you talk about and proved your ignorance again. As for your comment about the "lazy" UK officers - your ignorance is showing again!

I can only offer my sincere condolences to Mr. Bautista's family and friends. I really don't understand all the violence that is taking place. It is terribly sad what is happening here.

I also want to apologize for the lack of compassion and humanity shown on these blogs. A man has been ruthlessly murdered in cold blood and all they want to do is tear down the police.

Once and for all, I wish people would understand that the police are under funded. There is not enough man power to be at all places at all times. Stop harping about the UK police. Without them, the number of crimes solved would be even less than it is now!

Did any of you ever stop and think about why you see these officers at the local bars? The reason is because that is where a lot of trouble starts! It's also where they hear things that can be useful to them. But they can't be at every bar, every minute of the day and night! Be reasonable people and use the brains God gave you before writing utter nonsense!
