UPDATE: Search continues for Deshaun M. Bryan aka 'Bongo'
The cause of the accident is still unclear but following the mishap Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR), along with other private volunteers and friends with boats, engaged in an immediate search.
One of the two occupants of the boat was recovered with minor injuries.
According to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), today, July 12, 2017, officers of the RVIPF Marine Branch and Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) resumed their search early this morning “for one boater who is missing following a boating incident in the Sir Francis Drake Channel.”
It further stated that the search began late yesterday afternoon and ended late last night for the missing boater.
“The missing boater was one of two men onboard a 24” speedboat. Both occupants allegedly jumped into the sea when the boat overturned yesterday afternoon. One occupant who was rescued from the sea was treated for minor injuries and discharged from hospital. Cause of the mishap is still being investigated. Police investigations are ongoing,” the police press release stated.
Divers called in
Coordinator of VISAR, J. Phil Aspinall said divers were taken to the search site this morning but came up emptyhanded; however, another dive operation is slated for this afternoon.
“Both the police and ourselves have been out since 6:00 A.M. We are now back in but the Police remain.
“Divers were down this morning and we have another planned dive for 2:00 P.M.,” Mr Aspinall told Virgin Islands News Online.

One missing in boat mishap
One person is said to be missing after a boat carrying two persons reportedly flipped in waters between Road Harbour on Tortola and Peter Island around 5:30 P.M. today, July 11, 2017.
According to reports, one of the persons on the boat was rescued by emergency personnel; however, the search is on for the other person.
It is unclear what led to the boat mishap or the condition of the person recovered.
