UPDATE: Police investigating Road Harbour boating accident
In a press release sent by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, it was disclosed that Police Marine officers are presently investigating the circumstances surrounding a boat collision which has left one local fisherman dead.
Titley, 63, of Sea Cow’s Bay was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon after being transported to Peebles Hospital the release stated.
Inquiries indicate that the deceased was travelling into Baughers Bay on a 17’ Boston Whaler while a 37’ charter boat carrying cruise passengers was heading into the Cruise Pier Tender Dock when the boats collided. The deceased was thrown into the water as a result of the collision but was rescued while still conscious. However, on his transport to the Tender Dock he lost consciousness. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
He was the sole occupant of the dinghy at the time of the incident. No injuries were sustained by the passengers of the charter boat and the boat tender captain is cooperating with Police investigations.
