ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Before family, close friends and senior VIP officers, the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government has today Friday, March 1, 2019, sworn in its Cabinet.

The ceremony took place at the Governor's residence in Road Town on the main island of Tortola where Premier Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) was officially appointed Minister of Finance by Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert, while Hon Carvin Malone was handed the instrument, making him Minister for Telecommunications, Health and Social Development.

Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9) was appointed as Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration and Fifth District Representative, Hon Kye M. Rymer is now Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities.

Seventh District Representative Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley aka 'Showande Uhuru' is the Minister for Education, Culture, Agriculture, Fisheries, Sports, and Youth Affairs.

Two Junior Ministers

Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (AL) was appointed Junior Minister for Tourism, and At-Large Representative, Hon Sharie B. de Castro has been appointed Junior Minister of Trade and Economic Development. However, according to Premier Fahie, she will concentrate on merging Education with the economy.

On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, there will be a ceremony for the Ministers of Government where the public is invited.

The event is scheduled to be carried live on many social media platforms.

Gov’t Ministers to be sworn in Today, March 1, 2019 

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Just four days after the Monday, February 25, 2019, General Elections in the Virgin Islands (VI), Government Ministers of the Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) administration will be sworn in today Friday, March 1, 2019.

Premier Fahie is moving with speed to have his government start their work for the people after they were given a huge mandate at the 2019 polls.

The Virgin Islands Party won 8 out of 13 seats taking all the At-Large posts in addition to four districts.

Next step

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, the Premier and Minister of Finance announced his Cabinet selections and the New House of Assembly (HoA) is expected to convene on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, where all 13 elected members and a speaker will be sworn in.

    Congrats at all. Seriously though why the Deputy Premier and Speaker of the House can’t be announced. It can’t be that difficult. Mr. Willock will be a great Speaker of the House.
