The United Kingdom appointed Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert (right) declared a State of Emergency after Hurricane Irma, giving him full power and authority over the country. There have been some media reports claiming that after he left the country last week, the state of emergency was 'relaxed' and Premier Dr The Honourable D. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Tenth Sitting of the Second Session of the Third House of Assembly will be held today, October 5, 2017 at the Save the Seed Energy Centre at Duff's Bottom, on the main island of Tortola, instead of Ritter House on Wickham's Cay II.

A senior National Democratic Party (NDP) source had related to this news site that the Sitting was scheduled for Ritter House; however, it is unclear why that building is now not being used since Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert and Premier Dr The Hon D. Orlando Smith (AL) will be holding a joint press comference at 9:00AM today at Ritter House while the HoA will meet at 10:00 AM at the Save the Seed Energy Centre.

No Order Paper for the Sitting was made available to the public and this news site was told it was due to challenges, since the HoA offices at G. Stoutt Building were ravaged by Hurricane Irma.

This news site was also informed that there will be no live broadcast on ZBVI 780 AM of the Sitting of today's HoA session.

"The logistics are not in place for live coverage from Save the Seed for the HoA Sitting," Government Information Service officer Colene A. Penn stated on the media Whasapp chat.

HoA to meet on Thursday October 5, 2017

- First meeting after Category 5 Hurricane Irma destroyed the Virgin Islands & left the Governor in charge

With the Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert aka ‘Gus’ out of the country and there being much confusion as to who is in charge of the tiny British Overseas Territory, the House of Assembly (HoA), the Legislative  branch, will meet on Thursday October 5, 2017.

The meeting is expected to start at 10:00 AM at the Ritter House on Wickham’s Cay II.

The Order Paper has not been released to the public as most Members just received their papers a few days ago, according to a senior National Democratic Party (NDP) source.

This will be the first meeting after Hurricane Irma, a Category 5 storm, hit the Virgin Islands (VI) on September 6, 2017, leaving widespread destruction, homelessness, death and panic in the streets for food and gas.

A fight for power

The United Kingdom appointed Governor Jaspert declared a State of Emergency after the Hurricane, giving him full power and authority over the country.

There has been some media reports claiming that after he left the country last week, the state of  emergency was “relaxed” and Premier Dr The Honourable  D. Orlando Smith (AL) was back in charge. Our newsroom was unable to confirm these reports.

The NDP Government has been under fire for not being heard from immediately after the 2 Hurricanes, Irma and Maria, and it’s unclear when they will emerge to speak with the people.

There were also reports that the Governor had dissolved the government; however, following our newsroom investigations, those reports were found to be false.

And we have proven we cannot run our own affairs. Too much hiding, graft, no audits, no transparency, no responsibility, to much worry about making themselves and friends rich (cruise Pier rather than underground electric $7.2 million to bankrupt airline instead of working with an existing BVI based outfit, Millions spent of trying to give Chinese the airport rather than sewers and water). This government is corrupt and incompetent!!!!!

The Governor needs to do a hostile take over idc who disagrees but VIP nor NDP should be let back into government seats! A new party of fresh new faces and young vibrancy with a hunger to make the BVI great and natives flourish needs to be elected!! These secretive sell outs needs to be FIRED FOR LIFE

That $7.2 million the NDP gave away to that no good airline of theirs could have been used to help us now.
