UPDATE: Frankie's killer was after Jeffery Quigley' s cash & jewellery- Court

Two persons were yesterday placed before the court in connection with the territory's first murder for 2017. Kenaz Hazell was charged for conspiring with persons known and unknown while Rebekha Persaud was charged for perverting the course of justice by providing false alibi.
Principal Crown Counsel Mrs Tiffany Scatliffe-Esprit told the court that their case is built around evidence provided to police by CCTV cameras, Quigley and the phones of Hazel and Persaud.
CCTV footage
Scatliffe-Esprit told the court, in summary, that on January 6, 2017 Hazell entered Fahie Boy Bar at approximately 10:30 PM while three persons were in the bar; Fahie, Quigley and Kevor Isaacs. Hazell purchased a drink and, as seen on the CCTV footage, he kept his focus on Quigley.
The defendant then quickly left the bar and, shortly after, a person armed with a gun entered and shouted "everybody get down". Fahie responded in part "get down what?" at which stage the court was told that without even looking at Fahie the gunman pointed the gun directly at Fahie and shot him. The injured Fahie then ran out of the bar.
In the meantime, the gunman kept his attention on Quigley and demanded the items of cash, jeweĺlery and watch before running off in the very direction Hazell went.
Mention was made of a Rav4 vehicle believed to have been part of the plot.
Hazell not cooperating with police
Based on alleged evidence, Hazel was arrested by police on January 7, 2017 According to the prosecution; he has not been cooperating, holding on to his rights to say nothing.
However, on January 8, 2017 surprisingly to police, Ms Persaud presented herself at the police station and volunteered a statement, giving a sequence of evidence based on what she said Hazell told her.
But further investigation found her to have fabricated the information, which she later told police was indeed not true as she was fearful of Hazell and others said to be involved.
She also subsequently allegedly admitted to telling the lies to protect Hazell.
The prosecution further said police compared information found on the two accused’s mobile phone WhatsApp and the sequence and the times of calls between the two.
Hazell remanded
Hazell and Persaud were formerly arrested and charged on June 15, 2017. Hazell was unrepresented and told the court he had no intention of seeking legal counsel and was not going to apply for bail. He was then remanded to prison.
Persaud, on the other hand, was represented by former magistrate and Attorney at Law Mrs Valerie Stephens-Gordon.
Based on the facts brought to the attention of the magistrate by Mrs Stephens-Gordon, the two were not charged jointly.
In presenting bail plea, it was revealed that Persaud is 26 years old and parenting her 3 children single handily. The youngest child is a breastfeeding 1 year old. Persaud was granted bail to the sum of $60,000 with two signed sureties. She was made to surrender her travel documents despite the court not seeing her as a flight risk, has to report to the East End Police Station three times weekly, and was cautioned to stay away from witnesses and to be of good behaviour.
The two accused are scheduled to return to court on September 13, 2017 but at different times, Persaud at 9:00 AM and Hazell at 2:00 PM.
