UPDATE: Frankie J. Fahie identified as shooting victim
Mr Fahie, who lived for years on Zion Hill, was a resident of Long Trench, on the main island of Tortola, at the time of his death.
The deceased was reportedly operating a bar in the Long Look area and was robbed by a gunman. It is unclear if there were accomplices. It is also reported that a patron of the bar was also robbed of cash.
Mr Fahie, who is also a fisherman, was rushed to Peebles Hospital, the main public medical facility in Road Town; however it is reported that he died in surgery.
He is survived by his wife and five children, four daughters and one son.
This is the first homicide for 2017 as crime in the Virgin Islands continues to skyrocket, particularly gun crime.
The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Virgin Islands News Online convey our condolences to Mr Fahie’s immediate family and other loved ones.

Y the UK need take over ....the cope was rite in the area and did noting but UK them have crime so stop talk $%^&
it's our own people committing these crimes.
Talking crap bout let immigration do work
U need to SHUT UP AND GO SIT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!
On any given day you can see punks breaking the law with absolutely no consequences, I see scooter riders with no helmets, running red lights in broad daylight, I even see them now texting while on the scooters and the police do nothing. If criminals know they will not be punished they will get emboldened and do more serious crimes such as armed robberies. How many murders are UNSOLVED in the BVI, its a disgrace. Its almost like the police have no idea what they are doing.
Business owners try to get a firearm to protect themselves and have to go through so much red tape, most times being denied while these crazy little idiots out there thinking they are the baddest things around. Hiding behind a gun and still a set of cowards!!!!
In my humble opinion, it is time for the hunted to become the hunter.
Thank You !!! Someone finally see that kedrick pickering is a good for nothing sel##$% @$$$ man. you only see him through the area when election is coming up. after that he is gone! he does nothing for the district. so I don't see why people continue to vote for the j@##$%&
If I may ask, what is Hon Pickering supposed to do about the crime? The very family members of these criminals must know what they are doing and they aren't saying anything. So Hon Pickering is a mind reader now to go out in his community and read minds to identify the thugs?
Come on, we as a community need to step up and stop blaming everyone else.
I knew of him personally and even with a gun in his face this fellow would put up a fight.
And yet the talk is: It is better to be an alive Coward than and Dead Hero.
who is the winner in such an argument???????
suggestions after suggestions of how to Police lonf look area... One the suggestion I read a few months ago that I like is putting a Police century post in the area.. With all those shootings the police has done nothing pro active... Hate to blame the Police. How else can I look at it ?
Keep off doc ok funny man need to go sit he antigian r@$$ down
Maybe the dead bar owner should have taken the police commissioners advice and should have bought a dog.
