According to the DDM, conditions may become more favourable for development by early next week as the disturbance continues to track towards the west.
In urging residents to continue monitoring the system, the DDM noted that there is a 60% chance of the disturbance becoming a tropical development over the next week.

Three more ‘Disturbances’ on the heels of Dorian

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Following the detrimental category 5, Hurricane Dorian which ravaged neighbouring Bahamas, the Virgin Islands (VI) Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is warning of at-least three more weather disturbances developing in the Atlantic Region.
“Multiple Systems continue to line the Atlantic, some showing no signs of dying, while others continue to develop,” the DDM warned in a September 6, 2019, media alert.
DDM said the focus; however, for the [British] Virgin Islands is disturbance 2 and 3. It noted that Disturbance 3 showing signs of development, with the potential of reaching the Lesser Antilles.
“Disturbance 3 is currently located along 25W which is approximately 2600 miles from the BVI and is tracking towards the west at around 15 mph. The system currently has some rotation and limited thunderstorm activity associated with it,” the release noted.
Monitor Situation – DDM
DDM added that the weather disturbance has a 60 per cent chance of tropical development, therefore, residents should monitor the situation closely.
“Disturbance 2 has been identified several hundred miles east of the northern Leeward Islands. Conditions could become marginally favourable for some tropical development next week as the system tracks towards the west. The chance of development over the next week is 10 per cent.”
Further, DDM said Disturbance 1 does not pose that much of a threat and is expected to be absorbed into a frontal boundary northeast of Bermuda.
