PHILIPSBURG, St Maarten, WI- The BVI Bayside Blazers began their title defence at the 6th annual ‘Battle of the Fittest’ Basketball Tournament in Philipsburg, St Maarten in convincing fashion.

The BVI boys demolished Aruba 101-46 at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium last night, July 14, 2019.

BVI Bayside Blazers were led by a 22-point performance from Melvin H. Haynes (5 rebounds, assists).

Killven M. Samuel ended with 18 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal, while Adrian D. Joseph supported with 14 points, 45 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block and Deon J. Edwin 10 points and 6 assists.

The BVI ballers are in action again tonight, against the national team of the Dominican Republic from 10:00pm.

BVI Bayside Blazers arrive in St Maarten for weeklong games

- Begin title defence against Aruba tonight, July 14, 2019

The BVI Bayside Blazers Basketball Team arrived in Dutch St Maarten on Saturday evening, July 13, 2019, in their quest to defend their title in the 6th annual ‘Battle of the Fittest’ Basketball Tournament.

The highly competitive tournament starts this evening Sunday July 14, 2019 and will end on Saturday July 20, 2019.

Tonight, the BVI will take on Aruba in the second game which starts 8:00 PM at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium.

This morning, Sunday July 14, 2019, the BVI team did a work out and practice session under the leadership of Head Coach Ronald Simmons aka ‘Gola’, and Assistant Coach Trevor M. Stevens.

The team is managed by Hon Julian Willock. The Assistant Manager is Derrick R. Varlack, who also travelled with the team.

BVI 2019 Team

The BVI 12 member Team includes team captain Jason A. Edwin, Killven M. Samuel, Kimani T. Stevens, Adrian D. Joseph, Dextroy D. Mamswell, Shamarr A. George, Daven D. Ottley, Melvin H. Haynes, Cleo D. Sears, Deon J. Edwin, Kleon C. Penn, and Dion M. Blyden.
