ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Family, friends and well-wishers have received the sad and depressing news that the body found floating in Virgin Islands waters, close to Tortola's Pockwood Pond around 9:00 A.M. today, July 15, 2017 is that of missing boater Deshaun M. Bryan aka 'Bongo'.

The body was discovered by a fisherman, and also spotted by Speedy's Ferry Service who reportedly called Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR).

The body was then recovered from the seawater by VISAR with support from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Marine Base, and it is currently at the mortuary at Peebles Hospital in Road Town, on the main island of Tortola.

Families and friends of the deceased gathered this morning at Peebles Hospital in Road Town and assisted in identifying the body of the young 25 year old Virgin Islander, affectionately known as 'Bongo' or 'Bangking'.

Now that the body has been identified there will be an official autopsy to determine the cause of death.

How did it happened?

It was on Tuesday July 11, 2017 that the deceased and another man (whose name we have but will not publish) was in a boat mishap at Sir Francis Drake Channel around 5:30 P.M.

Both occupants allegedly jumped into the water when the boat overturned and the other person was rescued from the sea, treated for minor injuries and discharged from Peebles Hospital.

The staff and management of Virgin Islands News Online express our condolences to Mr Bryan's immediate family and other loved ones.

First I want to say, I DONOT know the young man nor his family.Second, I want to send my condolences to his family and friends. Now, I just want to say I read each and every blog and I was disgusted with the things people were saying. Just stop for a moment and think about his mother feelings. Stop assuming and bashing people.

@Real talk, people like you and can. Well for you guys information, I am not one who will sit back and try to paint a nice and perfect picture when I was not so. I knew this guys very well and I know he was no darn Saint, so when I comment I know perfectly well what am saying, from a young age there were a lot of people who were hurt but his actions but as someone already said, karma is a bitch. Sometimes we got to be stop and stop early before it gets worse. Say what you all want, it's a free world with freedom of speech. I gave jack his jacket and he must wear it.

@job, yes you are entitled to your blog just like everyone is. However, this is not the time to speak negative about the guy. No matter how or what the guy was, I don't think you should be bashing him now that he is gone. Can you imagine how his mother, father and little girl is hurting? As a parent, I refrain from from saying negative about other people children.

I can see where you are coming from... however if the life he lived is as bad as they say it was, then not everyone will be sorry for his death. I don't know the young man but I go know his mother and if his life was negative then they should be prepared for the negativity whether life or death. No offense but dead or alive the truth is the truth and sometimes it hearts.
        • @okay (17/07/2017, 10:24) Like (4) Dislike (1) Reply

I understand you have your point also but I must agree with JOB. When do you think is the best time to remember? Before he went or after he's gone? Dont you think his parent knew about his behavior that possible made karma find it's way home? Our problem is alot of us like to paint beautiful pictures of hell before we speak the truth.

Yes condolences is in order for his family but am willing to bet that his parent tried to no avail to caution him and warn him on many levels. Life is what it is. Parent speak, children refuse to obey, they pay the price, parents grieve. And so is the circle of life. Yall need to stop color coating sh*t and speak the truth. Warm the rest that lives if they live by the sword, they shall die by the sword. Who has ears to hear.... let them do what? Hear, understand, learn, live .

Rip Bongo. Saw you at the ice cream parlour the day before and for some reason you were glowing. You looked so relaxed. Stress free. Mellow. The other young man with you looked playful and mischievous. He looked like a baby almost. There is a saying, "Here today! Gone tomorrow." And boy it did play out. So sad for your mom, but as time pass on she'll get strong.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 King James Version (KJV)

5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
