UPDATE : Alwin James to act as Deputy Commissioner of Police

Superintendent of Crime Division Alwin James (left) will be acting as the DCP. Superintendent in Charge of West End and East End Police stations Roy Stoutt was reportedly shortlisted for the position as well.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Superintendent of Crime Division Alwin James will act as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) when David Morris takes over the mantle from Reynell Frazer, Commissioner of Police, who will be retiring on April 1, 2012.

As first reported by this news agency on March 1, 2012, our sources had indicated that either James or Roy Stoutt, Superintendent in charge of the West End and East End Police would act in the capacity.

According to a Government Information Service (GIS) press release, James will act for six months in the first instance.

In June 2010, James received the first clasp Police Long Service Medal for 25 years of service. As the head of the Crime Unit, James is responsible for officers who handle high profile cases including murder, armed robbery and drug trafficking.

This has nothing to do with the Government Ministers and you know it, you just like to talk nonsense because there are many idiots who will believe it. The man from the UK who is about to get the top spot was hired as DCP under VIP. What did VIP do or say about it? Absolutely nothing as they had no say in the matter so cut your s>>t out! Who get it get it but what will it change? It's just a power struggle to see who could get the higher position so that they could protect their friends and families doing nonsense. Are we that naive to be here rooting for this crap? Schups!

This is utter rubbish! All of a sudden they're qualified, because the man from UK get the top spot which was always the plan? What happened when they were actively trying to recruit a DCP? When Brown and others were frowned upon now Brown is COP in Antigua and I'm sure he's doing well. RUBBISH! All of them corrupt anyway so it doesn't matter who's top or bottom.

Morris should stay as DCP after all that is what he was contracted to do. The job of commissioner should be advertised and those who feel they are qualified should apply. In this day and age why are we going nackwards and having sorry to say a white commissioner again. I thought we were way ahead of those times.

I personally think that the post of commissioner should be advertised throughout the Caribbean region. There are highly qualified police officers in the region who can more than lead this little police force we have in the BVI. I know couple of officers in the Royal Barbados Police Force who can wrap Morris around their fingers like a strand of thread. I sick of this backwards slavish mantality that because white can do it better. Hog wash!!!

If it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. A few short months ago no one in the RVIPF was not qualified to be the DCP. We reached deep into Wales to find a DCP. Interestingly though Inspector Brown went on to be and is currently the CP of Antigua and Barbuda.A&B covers a geographical area of 180 square miles with a population of 70K and has a larger force. Now, suddenly some rejected and marginalized inspectors are now highly qualified and being strongly considered for DCP. Was lies being told then and now. A convenient truth is being expressed? Was the decision makers lying then and now? What was CP Frazier's role in selecting a DCP from a force of over 200 officers? If not one officer was qualified for DCP, then. It is probably fair to say that the tenure of several CP failed to effectively lead and develop the force. If this is the case, the people of the BVI was not well -served and is due an apology that they will never get. This whole affair was a sham. And the decision makers should be ashamed of themselves for insulting the intelligence ofthe people oftest the BVI. The people of the BVI are not that gullible. This is just a conspiracy theory. But I'm of the opinion that the plan all along was to ensure that the next CP would be from the UK. And what better way to pave the way for this than to deem all local cops as unqualified to be DCP. If you are not qualified for DCP, you definitely cannot be qualified for CP. Genius. Not really. Disingenuous. Now that you have exposed yourselves, insulted the people, and lose all credility, do something to start the redemption process---appoint one of the qualified locals to be the CP (Vanterpool, James, Stoutt, Vanterpool...etc). Further, some locals should be strongly considered for CP. The job will be tough job, for the force is fragmented among locals, other Caribbean nationals, and UK. Add the crab-in-a-bucket syndrome among the African diaspora/enclave and you have a mess. Let one of the rejected stone become the head stone.

Quiet storm, I am with you 110%, could not have agree with you more. But some people of the BVI need to stand up and expose wrong doing in this country, David Morris and those white UK officers cares nothing about this country but receiving huge pay cheques and enjoying good living. I was made to understand that one of the local officers was recommended for the DCP then, Fraser by passed that decision and told HE that he wants none of them to be his deputy, so that recommendation was swept way under the rug, now when they go to the UK for the Deputy, they fool poor Royie that they will create a post of Assistant Commissioner fort him not the time come for that post to be created, Morris told HE that he does not see the need for ACP and then they set about to create a New Structure for the force which was approved by management without the input of the lower ranks of the force not even the Police Welfare Association. It is my understanding that Morris shovel that new structure to HE in the absence of Reynell and it was approved, that structure as it hardly left anything positive for the local officers. We have to open our eyes and see what is happening, these guys have a plan program and is going at length to see that their program succeed. HE and Morris is going to pack this country and the RVIPF with officers from the UK and I can bet my last dime that is is going to happen

So after all these years you people do not consider that Alwyn James is a local? Well my boy this is really ridiculous. All I know is that Supt James commands far more respect than any other Officer in a top level position right now. Plus I believe he will do an excellent job. And I am betting my money on him!
