BOVONI, St. Thomas, USVI – 'Admission' pulled off an upset win on debut yesterday, March 23, 2014 to secure a purse of $10,000 when it defeated Break Up The Game, Ethelred (Tortola) and Prince of Speed to win the feature race at the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack in St Thomas, USVI.

Tortola’s Town Hall did not travel to participate in the feature open one mile race as originally billed.

Earlier, Machoramus, also on debut, won the first race of the day ahead of X-Pleasure and Willa Bella. Selena’s So Mad and Daddy’s Dream were scratched for the race.

In the second race, Tiger Glider defeated a field of five, winning ahead of Charlie the Runner, Weir’s Gap, Bennysouthstreet and What’s Popping.

The third event was a match race between Mr Gold Prospect and Schatt the Bandit which was won by the former while Stephen Got Better defeated Mae Ruler and Warrior’s Cove in the fourth race.

Swagg Daddy won the fifth open 6 furlongs sprint race after Slevin was scratched. The horse won ahead of Edge Ahead and Grazettes Landing. Gamekeeper was also scratched for the race.

Tortola’s Ethelred to debut in St Thomas races tom. March 23

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Tortola’s Ethelred will be the lone representative in horse races scheduled for this Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Several other local horses were billed to participate in the races scheduled for tomorrow, including Game Keeper, Buy Buy Buy and Town Hall, but none of them made the trip, according to reports.

The card features six races in addition to a kid’s derby. The feature race will include Ethelred on debut (Boys Stable), Prince of Speed, Break Up The Game and Admission (debut). Town Hall was also expected to be featured in the race which carries a purse of $10,000.

Attempts to contact Alex V. Lake of Family Affairs Stables and owner of Town Hall proved futile up to press time. The horse had been on a winning streak recently and had been leaving all comers in its wake as it raced from victory to victory.

Lake mentioned after the horse’s last win in St Croix last month that he may next run Town Hall in the Easter Races at Ellis Thomas Downs before taking him across to the Governor’s Cup in St Thomas but was still considering his options.
