ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI: Just as was first and accurately reported by Virgin Islands News Online, six contestants will vie for the 2017/18 title of Miss British Virgin Islands. It was late this evening Sunday May 21, 2017 at the Tortola Pier Park, in Road Town on Tortola that the six young ladies were officially revealed to the Public for this year’s pageant, hours after this news site broke the story.

They are, Contestants #1-Genesis Richards, #2-Ayana Phillip, #3-Tecora Morgan, #4-Helina A. Hewlett, #5-Lean Francis and #6-Khephra Sylvester.

1 dropped out & another could not make first event

There was to be a seventh young lady; that of Natalia S. Prieto, however according to a committee member speaking exclusively to our newsroom told us on condition of anonymity, “she pulled out at the last minute due to an injury...she really wanted to participate even hours before the unveiling.”

In addition, contestant number 3 Ms. Morgan was unable to make today’s unveiling due to another commitment.

According to information from the re-branded pageant committee, which now has a merger between the Miss British Virgin Islands, the Miss World BVI and Miss Universe BVI, the first competition will be held on July 1, 2017 in the form of a swimwear competition, followed by a crown reception on July 20, 2017.

Then the big Queen show night will be on Sunday August 6, 2017 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town under the theme, ‘Beauty With Purpose; Evolution of Pride and Culture’.

No ticket details have been released.

One of these girls ain from St. Thomas and ran for a show over there? They need to have a residency requirement. You need to have gone to school in the BVI to run for Miss BVI. These people just coming from wherever they come from and taking away prizes from people who have spent their entire lives in the country.

So they just pick any girl from off the road to join Miss BVI? Background checks needs to be done! You can't be thinking to join the pageant if your always loud and drunk on the job, plus does not speak nor pronounce English correctly. Oh my. What has the BVI pageants came out to be.
