WEST END, Tortola, VI- It was just before 10:00 PM last night Wednesday November 22, 2017 when three persons were heading back to Road Town from West End on Tortola in a white Suzuki Jeep when the three persons, an adult male and a female, along with an 11 year old girl, came under fire.

According to our Team of Reporters, the gunmen were on two scooters and fired several shots indiscriminately into the vehicle.

Our newsroom can confirm that two persons, the adult male and the 11 year old girl, have died. We have names and photos of all victims; however, will hold on publishing until a later news cycle.

The adult female remains at the state-owned Peebles Hospital in Road Town and her condition is critical, according to hospital sources.

The male and 11-year-old minor were pronounced dead on arrival. The female continues to receive treatment at the hospital for her injuries.

According to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, November 23, 2017, the minor was a back seat passenger in a vehicle containing two other persons, a male driver and an adult female.

"Reports indicated that the vehicle was on the West End Public Road in the area of the graveyard around 9:30 P.M. when at least two scooter riders rode up to the vehicle. Shots were then fired into the vehicle and then the scooter riders fled."

CoP appeals to public for help

Speaking exclusively to our newsroom moments ago, Police Commissioner Michael B. Mathews, who still remains popular in the Territory, said: "I am sickened and horrified that an assassination style killing has taken place in our community."

The top cop also stated: "the perpetrators of such crime are sick individuals and I appeal to all of our communities- including those who are of a criminal nature- to have a conscience and to come forward and assist the police with information that will bring these evil killers to justice."

There have been some 10 homicides for the year in the tiny overseas territory of the Virgin Islands, the majority of which have been as a result of shootings.

The number of homicides is the highest ever recorded in the Virgin Islands and also speaks of the urgency to take drastic action against gun crime.

Another shooting incident in the VI

Our newsroom can confirm that upwards of two people were shot on the western end of Tortola tonight, November 22, 2017.

Details are still emerging as to who was shot and how many people were shot; however, it is being reported that a child is one of the shooting victims.

Peebles Hospital is on lockdown with heavy police presence following the incident.

Virgin Islands News Online is currently working our sources around the territory and will bring more details as they emerge.

This is the third shooting for this month.

On November 4, 2017 a man was shot in the leg while in the vicinity of a bar in Huntums Ghut and on November 20, 2017, Elmore Stoutt High School teacher Paul S. Meyers was shot in both of his legs while at his residence in Huntums Ghut, also on the main island of Tortola.

The useless people are the ones who are committing the crimes. You can’t always police idiots other than bringing them to justice. Stopping crime is a community, family and education issue - raise decent human beings who would not commit crimes!

You assume that criminals obey the law. The curfew is for the law abiding citizens. Crime will happen regardless bc it's them who won't keep curfew doesn't matter the time.

Hoping these criminals are caught quickly. Whoever they live with know it was them. Do the right thing and turn them in.

Kids ain't raised right by parents. The girls let the men get them pregnant cause they can't say no to a convincing man and besides "my friends do it and they are O.K." Then the man he scoot on to the next. Mama is a teen & cannot handle the kid and the cycle goes on. If Government/the people want something different than jealous men & drug gangs, then DO something about the source. Make consequences for the men that get women pregnant. Make consequences for the woman that do get P. and especially won't tell who done it. It starts with parents as soon as the child is born. Handouts only make it easier. There has to be CONSEQUENCES

I don't think this is the post for what you are talking about my dear. There are criminals of good upbringing. Did a husband or boyfriend get someone pregnant on your head? because you sound mighty bitter to be talking about pregnancy under a gun violence post....Some of you people are just there as mouth pieces and your kids are not better than the next.I am truly sorry that this happened and it makes me fearful for everyone including myself that is trying to make an honest living after Irma. We need more police patrolling. People are talking about curfew, that doesn't stop people from being criminals. What it does is limit how much time the criminals have at night to be out as much as possible. We know we won't get all of them off the road at the curfew time but its worth a try. Sorry to those of you with 'social lives' at night time. Look at it this way, Stray bullets are a thing and If you aren't a direct hit, I don't think you would want to be a random one either.

I sick and fed up of this kinda behaviour around here. When have we become do heartless in the BVI that we find it easy to walk around shooting at each other.

For a family oriented society we need to come together as a people help each other along the was build up each other this is so sad. I am 38yrs my eldest child is 16 my youngest is 5 It is so sad they wouldn't see the BVI I grow up in were it took a village to raise a child.

Why has crime excelate to this level don't get me wrong crime was always around but not yo this level what are we saying to our children do we now bring them up in fear of the world when the only they should fear is God almighty. To the family I hope all will be well with those persons involved in shooting may God cover them under his precious blood Lord continue to build a hedge of protection around us and our families

I am beginning to think this thing is an political agenda try to discredit the government even more but maybe the soldiers need to come back and curfew go back 6am-6pm anyone caught outside the curfew hours must provide a valid reason for being out those person should undergo full search of the vehicle and body search its time for hammer to drop.

Why ban them when they are the easiest way of getting around now...strict rules is what needed...If you ban them, the same effort it would take to find them and take them off the road, is the same effort could be use to take the ILLEGAL ones off the road. Any scooters with no license plate, no registration number confiscate them. Ones with no helmet, chase them, pull them over, thats what you have the police bikes for. Put the pressure on them.

Mick is probably wondering what he got himself into. Nature’s Dirty Little Secret. These murders are getting out of hand, and killing little children (whether accidental or not) is the tipping point in my opinion. Something needs to be done about these nuisances in our society, especially those who sit along the road side all day long, or ride around on Scooters all day and all night, doing absolutely nothing to contribute to society in a meaningful way. Am I the only person who has a problem with this?? Come on man, let’s do something. The Police are giving these guys a free ride, and clearly their parents have failed them. Let’s get proactive and stop waiting for shit to happen. Stop letting these nuisances ride up and down aimlessly, day and night. Just like how Black Men are profiled in America, I think Scooter Riders should be automatically stopped and frisked ON A DAILY BASIS.

I don't agree with banning anything. They all have their purposes. We are the ones who allow them to be used in a reckless manner. Someone said most of the Scooters on the road are unlicensed. Why is this even being tolerated in the first place??! That's the first part of your problem. If you ban them then they will just find another way to be a nuisance to our society. A ban is not a solution to a problem. It's just a bandaid. Let them have their Scooters. But a message of zero tolerance needs to be sent to those who ride unlicensed scooters and who ride recklessly. I don't understand for the life of me why this can't be done. If you can't enforce basic laws how will you maintain order in a society? If they are allowed to do whatever the hell they want of course they'll feel comfortable committing murder.

The most hardest criminals know you don't mess with children. I don't condone violence but, in this case, I don't have a problem with the streets taking justice this time.

After reading this I’m most fearful of myself and loved ones. This should be a way of life especially now that we’ve been through so much in the past couple month. God isn’t finish! He is still sitting high and watching low.
I’m honestly tired of the government saying they’re upset of these violent behaviors when they can implement certain laws to prevent these acts. The curfew was changing so quickly because they felt they don’t need it. Now these acts are occurring just before. Do we still not need it? In my opinion we do and found that it really did help in the beginning. It’s like they get bored after certain hours and feel like just shooting random families.

Nothing can change the DNA of people. The demographic makeup of the BVI was altered and tis is now the new norm.
Change the demographic of the BVI in a relatively short time is easy, especially post Irmaria. Seize this opportunity afforded by The Universe for r the much needed catharsis and the BVI will be gloriously survive and thrive:
I say so cause it is so.
In the meantime, make a note of the description of the assailants.

Two black men on scooters with no historical or ancestral ties or lineage to any of the Virgin Islands:.
