'UK's Actions on VI is expected' - Rosan-Bunbury

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI: A public debate has been sparked as the United Kingdom continues to impose direct rule on the Virgin Islands (VI) via its finances by imposing Section 103 (b) of the Constitution of the Virgin Islands a few weeks ago and the appointment of senior civil servants mainly in the law enforcement areas.

Former Crown Magistrate and Virgin Islands Party 2015 At-Large candidate Attorney-at-law Charmaine R. Rosan-Bunbury has weighed in.

Speaking exclusively to our newsroom, the Head of Rosa Law, Mrs. Rosan-Bunbury said "it is a bit early to form a definitive conclusion of what is afoot.  The action taken so far was foreseeable and expected".

The former Magistrate said, "if we don’t have the courage to hold ourselves accountable, others will do it for us."

In addition, the veteran Attorney-at-law said,   "We are a Territory of the United Kingdom uniquely trusted to manage ourselves.  If distrust creeps in because we do not give account when and where we should; checks and balances effected outside our control are activated."

We brought it on ourselves - Rosan-Bunbury

Mrs. Rosan-Bunbury who did not announce,  if she will be on the election ballot again in the next election stated that the situation of direct rule "might hurt our pride a little but I believe I am among the many who foresaw it and believe it necessary in order to get us back on track".

She stated that if our "way of life is threatened we should view as a positive those who have the gumption to tell those who would lead us astray enough is enough."

Skelton-Cline we lack leadership

Meanwhile, former National Democratic Party candidate in the 2011 general elections for District 2 and Former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority Claude O. Skelton-Cline blasted the Administration and said the "lack of Leadership is the real issue".

He was at the time speaking on the Vigilate Dialogues with Shaina M. Smith on May 22, 2017, on CBN channel 51.   He said it sickened him when he heard Ministers in the House of Assembly saying  "things are handed down to us and we cannot do anything about what is happening to us".

The fiery preacher said those who cannot do anything to help us in this situation (refereeing to the UK's actions) "needs to be removed from office".

Mr. Skelton-Cline said that there is no clear vision for our people as there is no big picture planning when it comes to "our people".

Both UP (united party) and VIP (virgin islands party) left this country in the hands of locals then came the NDP to put it back in the hands of the UK

You've always been in the hands of the UK. Your emancipation was a charade. If you want to unshakle yourself, move to Africa, where white man's rules seldom apply. There you will discover what a black world is like. But please don't forget your machete - not for coconuts.

History writing itself. Our history will record the ones who set us back decades financially. Bright boys and girls spending millions of dollars without accountability and without proper planning and foresight.
    Pray for our Virgin Islands.

Alas both Claude and mrs branbury are in no position to lead the charge in the matter of leadership, both have far too much negativity around them , both have axes to grind , one is suing the government for twenty six million and the other for an disclosed amount far less than 26 million . Both need to put their collective houses in order and help from behind the scenes, putting any of them out front dooms your chances of ever getting elected

am starting to agree with Frazer, Claude Skelton-Cline, and Willock ideologies- because they are exhibiting the warrior spirits exhibited in the spirit of Ancestors. Like them or hate them, they seem to be willing to listen to us, says what they think towards forging a way forward for all of us all one people. This has become the level of public discourse that we need in the public square.

Thank you VINO for being a voice for us - THE SUPPOSED COMMON PEOPLE with no intelligence and common-sense who can't recognize what's going on in our Beloved Virgin Islands, among societies supposed selected elites.

By “con"- fusion. "The NDP: "The National Disgraced Party" who my entire family voted for- is the biggest party in our history of the Virgin Islands stories who have really outplayed themselves. People who don't look like us is taking over every major position in our country. I do not have as much education as those who in charge, but something is majorly wrong.

Where do we go from here?

My grandchildren helped me to put this together., but I was urged to say something as an elder. This is their edition of my thoughts, but I hope you get my point for our children, grandchildren born, and those who are on their way.

Our Political Perspectives Matter! In our Churches as well as in Our Government. Our Bible is all about Politics. There is no separation between Church and Government because policies are influenced by Our Beliefs.

Let us truly contemplate our upcoming next election for our children's futures.

This is my first post. Thank you “Virgin Islands News Online” if you ever publish this. My grandchildren are the most beautiful beings ever produced on this Earth and they continue to harass me to express my thoughts as an elder in our community. They keep telling me that a silent giant should not move on to the next Ether without expressing to the public what they have been privileged to learn in my age of growing us in our country. We have come a long way, we do not need to regress because of our misdirection.

To my elders- let us truly look at our children, they are the next leaders in our country. Let us advise from the back and let them lead. It is their world now.

Thank you “Virgin Islands News Online.”

You people will never be satisfied with anyone who runs for general elections! Anyone is a Target whether clean or otherwise. That's just Tortola. A white clean cloth will be made to look dirty even if it stands there and do nothing. I have seen where people just set out on a malicious campaign just to give the comments section life and controversy. There are just wicked people around and no one is safe on Tortola news blogs. NO ONE.

So true! Truer word have never been written here. There are many qualified and caring persons willing to offer their services for country above self. However because of the smearing that goes on, they have opted to stay away. It is not worth the stress that will come from the ungrateful.

Look at Rite Way. The BVI Gold mine. Sold for a dime. Because the locals seems to have a problem managing Locals and the ones they like....They say Mr P and Mrs D. Should have fired the Two D's along time ago.. One worker was saying in Anger that's it Mr P. Mrs D and the two D's that cause RTW to sell. They failed baldly. So we shouldn't blame the white people. Its their company now. We gave it to them. Locals need to Stop complaining and learn to manage and hold on to what they have.

Along with many others,I am disillusioned with our current Government but we need viable alternatives. All who are spouting out thus far, come with a lot of baggage. There are just about two years left in the current administration, let us be up and doing. The only person speaking to convince me so far is Fraser and believe me,he is not and have never been my candidate.
There are some promising young men in the NDP,they need to link up with others of like mind and ability and lead this country forward.

Power corrupts, look at other small nations all over the world they are filled with the haves and have nots. The checks and balances that the UK brings keeps the country from sliding further into this category even though we are very close by this NDP government.
The accounts need to be vetted and any wrongdoings punished in a court of law to ensure that corruption will be paid for by their freedom as they are taking the BVIs freedom from the UK with their corruption.
