ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Excitement continues to build towards the First Leg of the Triple Crown at Ellis Thomas Downs with news that the Challengers from St Thomas and St Croix have all safely arrived in the territory for the showdown on Sunday January 18, 2015.

The recently appointed new Association Board, under the leadership of Karen B. Smith- Aaron has pulled out all the stops to ensure a great spectacle, the infield is cut, the winners circle is gated to ensure safety, the track will be graded and security tightened.

During the Races and to add to the buildup there will be a High Heel Competition, a Fashion Show by JBY Fashions and Sariah’s Hair, Bows and Accessories as well as music by Vibe Band.

“Post time is 12.30 pm and all the big players are here, eight from St Croix and seven from St Thomas. There will be seven exciting races and of course the first leg of the Triple Crown,” noted Horse Owners Association media man, Andre S. Dawson. “The only horse not to come over is Admission, but we understand he has been retired,” Dawson added.

Home-based fans will be right behind Trading Secrets and Chilean Boy, but a stiff challenge will come from St Moose from St Croix, who is a proven big money winner and is a pre-race favourite amongst many who study the form guides.

“I’ve had him four months now and he has been improving every day. There were some leg and feeding issues, but he is now at peak readiness. St Moose from St Croix is a threat and is a previous big money winner from the States, but we will sit Trading Secrets off the pace early, hang back before making a move and are confident of winning,” commented Alex Lake, Owner of Trading Secrets

Whilst the focus will fall on race 6 over 1 and 1/16th of a mile, which also features Swag Daddy and Still Unbroken, there are many other potentially thrilling match ups during the afternoon.

Stephen Got Better is slated to face Kanavayen over 5 furlongs, L and B stables will be debuting Doughmaker in the day’s last race over a mile and Star Ship Titan, Fort Pyramid and Buy Buy Buy all run in the same 7 furlong encounter.

The track conditions are set to be perfect, the entertainment enthralling and the races thrilling as what will no doubt be a bumper crowd head to the Downs for the First Leg of the Triple Crown, with hopefully announcements made public as to the situation with the second and third legs, slated for St Croix and St Thomas respectively.
