ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - National Democratic Party (NDP) insiders with Honourable Myron V. Walwyn's (AL) wing, have confirmed with this publication that Cabinet agreed at its Thursday, November 22, 2018, meeting, to appoint Mr Trefor A. Grant, as the Chairman of the BVI Ports Authority for three years.

Mr Grant is currently acting in the post and will also be a Candidate for the NDP with Hon Walwyn—the current Co Leader of Government.

It was sometime in August of this year that the former Chairperson, Ms Jenifer A. Potter-Questelles, abruptly resigned.

The speculations were not confirmed, as to why she made that decision.

It is unclear why Mr Grant—a reported political candidate—would be given such an appointment at this time with elections just a few months away.

Scandals

The BVI Ports Authority has been rocked over the past five years by scandals that include the construction of the Tortola Pier Project (TPP), that saw a $40M over-run, along with the recent hiring of a St Lucian national to head the Ports, when there are locally qualified Virgin Islanders.

There are also discussions about the credibility of an Audit Report ordered by the Premier, Dr D. Orlando Smith (AL), Administration, into the Ports Project, where the Government is in fact auditing itself.

List his EDUCATIONAL accomplishments please. Or being a good "boy" to certain people and speaking the queen english well enough is all that is needed to be qualified.

One could say just another well spoken person with no real education other than grade school.

Although I agree that Trefer is a good man and can handle the challenge, am also baffled as to why cabinet, which is chaired by HE The Governor Augustus Jaspert will agree to this appointment for three years when Trefer name is featuring big as an At-Large candidate. Is the Governor being over powered at cabinet or is he giving the NDP enough rope to bang themselves. Just left one to wonder

Gandalf please use your intelligence and not the part you sit on! It’s evident which part of the body is in use!

I love my country and my BVI people but I believe in giving jack their jacket when they deserve it! Not because of political affiliations, stealing from taxpayers for kick backs or just to fool the people!

He himself knows why and how he got the job! So please use your intelligence!

Wall wind Bob Marley said you can fool some people sometimes but you can’t fool all the people all the time! Because now we are seeing the light!

Trefor's appointment is mind boggling. How can he be on so many Government Boards while it is said that he will be contesting a seat in the next election. John Samuel was made to resign from the PSC so how come all the NDP candidates have not resigned from their governmental positions. The principal of Elmore Stoutt is still on the job.

They all waiting on the Public Service Management Bill to pass in the HOA where candidates can get their jobs back within 60 days of losing in the election.

The NDP candidates are yet to announce their intention. John Samuel on the other hand, publicly stated that he intendeds to run for political office. Not a fan of the NDP but I see no biases here.

@must be family- Sir/Ma'am - whomever you are! I bet even my a$$ is smarter than you. You and your politically jaded VIP hatchet crew see things in only one light and that betrays your divisive and ignorant nature. Yes he is an NDP man but is certainly no beneficiary of their old party players activities, so, other than you who the hell cares what your opinion is? He is a perfectly qualified BVI person to be on the board, he has served on the board for quite some years too. So pull you thumb out of your booty and look a things through a clearer light rather than partisan politics! I want to see good people put i places to get this country back on track with ethics and honesty. Mr Grant is one of those very few bright lights available to us.

Ethics you say? Why John Samuel the qualified person for the job was pushed aside. Politics will be the death of people like you.

The “Lobster Shift” that’s what I want you to think of because I wonder how long is fair for Trevor’s father work nights? Trevor’s “Day Shift(s) position was not given to him . it’s fair reward for hard work if you come to this country because he can only be awarded the status of so little including his begrudgingly citizenship status as a model British Virgin Islander. Mr Grant was long civic minded before he could get a civil service position that was not a given, a choice, or guarantee; the country is better off to have this witty, humble, diplomatic, cheerful, energetic, smart, decent, very capable individual; petty people prevent progress: Mr Grant was raised on the same island, eat the same food, went to the same schools, and breathe the same air, experienced the same norms and cultures and you want him to be the outsider he could never become- his land is your land- peep this - like you he did not grow up looking through a peephole- He grew up viewing some of the best sunrises and sunsets any Child living in the BVI could wake up to- so if this is a fraction of a dream come true - let the reality and the embracing begin - if not for you, if not for his parents, let it be for the kids who never asked to be brought to the BVI but who never complained that the BVI was not enough. Trevor’s success is by his own passion and passageway his family set on years and year ago when the docks were not even “ports” - but any portrayal to the clients of this authority that he is neither deserving or qualified speaks to deaf ears because sometimes a portfolio is portable and persuasive to some people that choose to not be possessive; we are all in this “Make BVI Great” again! Trust me Trevor has memories of how it was - “Docks without Borders” Congratulations Trevor!

It's called pulling the wool over idiot face. This scenario WE the voting public is the idiot. Guy has no real educational accomplishments so his people in high places wants him t o be elevated to status. Then WE the IDIOTS in this story will believe and feel he can be an elected official. Just name him to a number of Boards to pad his resume because his friends believe he is so popular he will be elected cause of WE the idiots in this story.

In reality this man is really a WOMANIZING wolf in sheep clothing. Treat his son like and OBLIGATION instead of an heir. Morality is on a real low scale but he is well spoken and liked especially by Caucasians. Well anyways enjoy the bamboozling.
