ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Tortola Pier Park’s Annual Jazz and Style Festival, inaugurated in 2017, is back this year despite the hard hit the facility encountered from the natural disasters of August and September last year. The festival will be held over three days, May 25 to 27, 2018 featuring craft, culture, jazz, style and poker run watch.

“Recovering from what we experienced following the floods of August 2017 and the two category five hurricanes, Irma and Maria, goes way beyond the physical structures here at the Tortola Pier Park and territory-wide. The social aspects of our wellbeing is also of paramount importance,” said Mr Vance Lewis, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tortola Pier Park (TPP) while emphasising the significance of the event for the people and the excitement it brings to the territory.

The three days of activities cater for the entire family. Starting things off on May 25th will be the showcasing of craft, culture, food and fashion. “Businesses in building one, adjacent the cruise pier, will be sharing their stories to success and presenting their local products,” noted Mrs Jurine George, Operations Manager, (TPP).

Commencing at 3:00 P.M. and culminating at 11:00 P.M., Day One will feature a must-experience cultural mix of the BVI including performances by the Althea Scatliffe School Drummers, Mockoo Jumbies, BVI Heritage Dancers, Elmore Stoutt Jr. Expression Dancers and a special performance by Spectrum Band. Additionally, a grand fashion event will portray the trendiest styles the BVI has to offer with local celebrity models led by Passions by UMI.

Day Two, 26th May, gets started at 3:00 P.M., with pomp and circumstance as we officially declare “REOPENED – Tortola Pier Park”. The festivities continue with soothing contemporary jazz combined with sultry hits and melodies from some of the BVI’s most talented artists including Jeremy Vanterpool, Kamau Georges and 2nd Degree, VI Groove Project, Hot Sauce Band, Sounds of Steel {Steel Orchestra}, King Jedi among others.

On the Final Day, everyone is to “Poker Run Watch” with us from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. “We encourage persons who would not be on the actual Poker Run to feel free to come join us at the Pier Park. Persons would experience the 4th stop here at the Pier Park and also live entertainment by King Peido, and of course, Tropix Cocktail Bar will be ready,” said Mrs Shonia Matthew-Palladino, Customer Services Manager, (TPP).
