BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Umoja radio talk show host Cromwell Smith aka Edju En Ka has placed the spotlight on the ‘Global Britain’ agenda, referring to the relationship with the Overseas Territories (OTs) as a facade rather than a relationship that is beneficial to OTs.

Global Britain is seeking to integrate Security, Defense, Development and Foreign Policy across its territories, but according to Smith, on the March 29, 2021, edition of his radio show, Global Britain is just another form of colonialism.

UK moving to make BVI a part of Britain

“The act of decolonisation now is not to separate from Britain but for the BVI to become a province of Britain.”

He said UK can therefore say to the global community and the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonisation that they no longer have colonies, but providences and territories similar to the US and the USVI.

“It’s still a colonial process that is going on here, they have to assent to every legislation we pass,” Smith said.

Colonialism in UK DNA – John I. Cline

Bishop of the New Life Baptist Church, Mr John I. Cline, speaking as a guest on the show, said the Global Britain relationship with the UK will continue as if it is colonialism because the UK has colonialism in their DNA.

“The Brits, they don’t change… when they come up with human or national security, the decision that they are making is still in the interest of Britain," he said.

According to the Bishop, “That’s their DNA, colonisers to rule over who they deem the lesser, wherever they have gone, whether it's South Africa, Australia, India, [and] in other parts of Africa.”

It is difficult to take anybody who makes up an African sounding name for themselves, and disrespects their parents by refusing to use the name given to them, seriously! And he talks a load on nonsense anyway!

But you'd probably also have been the one to have told Muhammad Ali not to disrespect his parents and to keep the name Cassius Clay. Anyone with a brain knows what happened to the last person who did that... LOL

Difficult though it may be for you sweetheart, try your best. Any grown individual has the right to answer to the name of their choosing; you not dealing with 'boys' on a plantation who need to know their place relative to Massa after all. Grown folks, not boys.

One big exception to your comment. Our names was given to us by force. I'm not telling you to change or dislike your name but you should at lease be aware of how you got it. If you're of African ancestry and have rejected it and cling to your affinity for your oppressor I think you are totally brain washed and delusional. Particularly when they don't want or accept you as part of there clan.

Not everyone in the Virgin Islands can say that their name was forced on them. There are some from the past who actually married the person and gave them their name. I know this about my grandfather's family line on my mother and father side, not to say that I do not have family who were at one point slaves. Also why hate your name. It is a reminder of the past and it is still part of your identity. We need to focus on making our name mean something positive rather than dwelling on the past that we had no control over. It saddens me to see people continue to dwell on the past negatives in which they had not part in and to blame other in the present for other people actions. Not all were bad and not all we good. There is still slavery going on today all over the world and you fail to realize that many other cultures went through similar hardships in the past but they found ways to press forward (not to complain everyday) and we need to the same and drive change in mindset towards the positive. Most of us are mixed race whether we like to admit it our not, we cannot erase it from our DNA. To hate others is to hate ourselves. It is the mindset and actions of a person we should dislike if he or she does not believe ALL LIVES MATTER and every person is to be respected and valued.

Put the measures in place to ensure that the people aren't mistreated by its government, to ensure that we have a strong economy and move on. I for one don't want to be apart of anything EUROPEAN, but just as important is not having a corrupt system/govt.

From the top of the royals down to the average Brit, included in their DNA is the natural predisposition to be racist, oppresive and hateful against Black people, as they view them as inferior sub-humans to them.

They, and their US counterparts, if given the opportunity again, will engage in the same systemic genocidal Holocaust of Centuries of Human Chattel Enslavement Savagery.

Forexample, look at the disgraceful, unhuman and disrespectful manner in which they still treat Black people in general and Virgin Islanders at airports, etc., as examples of that lurking possibility. We can once again become victims, because no evolution has taken in their minds and hearts over centuries.

They have centuries ago, rejected, discarded, dismissed, distorted and minimize through intentional omission and mischaracterization the very essence of our humanity and civilized story.

What they have failed each day to realize is their mentalities are and will be their tragic history.

Oh dear, oh dear; more delusions of grandeur and self importance. Right now the UK is responsible for the defence and foreign policy of all the Overseas Territories. It is not surprising that its Global Britain policy takes account of them therefore. It's also the reason we are getting support at this time of risk that the BVI will become a narco state and also the reason we are getting free vaccines (which few locals seem willing to take, so standby for dozens of dead people in the next 3 months). You can see how life goes without vaccines in you look at France which has just closed down again.

The idea that the UK wants to make the BVI a province of the UK is ridiculous. It also also contradicts the fact that the UK got shot of all its viable colonies in the period between 1947 and 1983. Unfortunately for the UK the BVI is not currently a viable country, and the UK does not want to be responsible for unleashing a new failed narco state on the world. I'm sure if the BVI could organise itself properly the UK couldn't get shot of it fast enough.

I would strongly suspect that knowing the provenance of the moniker 'Cromwell' was precisely WHY he has chosen to be known instead as Edju En Ka. Unless you are also suggesting that he intends to overthrow the current monarchy and establish a republican commonwealth in these Virgin Islands....

Most if not all Virgin Islanders surnames are the names of the slave masters that owned, tortured and exploited their ancestors. Imagine having to carry the name of your ancestors slave Master or the slave Master who raped and impregnated your female ancestors.
