ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Five vehicles received damages when a taxi driver somehow managed to lose control of his automobile on Main Street, close to Harney’s in the wee hours of June 26, 2020.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, around 12:05AM a red taxi bus was heading in the direction of Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital in the area of Harney’s when it brushed the rear left side of a parked red Mini Cooper.

The driver, in allegedly “trying to correct the situation”, swerved right but ended up hitting a parked Voxy mini-van, knocking off its front bumper, before slamming into the back of a parked silver Hyundai Tucson, causing the Tucson to hit into a parked silver Subaru vehicle.

The taxi driver reportedly told persons on the scene he was trying to avoid hitting two dogs when the mishap occurred.

Police were summoned to the scene and reportedly took the driver to Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital to conduct a blood test.

We need to force taxi drivers to retire at 60 years old. There are too many of them that can’t see properly, can’t hear properly and spent too many years sitting in the association booth with the rum. Write them now.

Please don’t blame your mistake and incompetence on those innocent dogs, there were no dogs in the street. How I know that? I will admit, I broke curfew and I will admit it. I left the bar right behind you and you were twisted. Don’t lie on innocent animals.

I would also admit I also broke curfew that night. I went to the bar to have a few drinks myself to get away from my nagging wife. I also seen dude putting away a few drinks and plastered when they left the bar. I will say, some of you wives or girlfriend drive the men to run to the bars and drink because of your constant nagging and speculations.

Dogs or no dogs, he is responsible for the damages that was done to the cars he hit.

Yes I agree that the driver was at fault, but also blame those who still thing that driving down main street will be smooth sailing with all those old cars parked up on the side and the roads already narrow enough. If Government don't fix that problem there would be much more accidents like these. Do you guys see any vehicle allowed to be parked on the main street of St. Thomas ????? GO FIGURE!

So he using the two dogs in the road defense. There was no dog in the road like he said unless his mind was playing tricks on him and the cars he saw looked like two dogs in the road. Pardon for saying this but, marijuana don’t mess with your head like liquor does. DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE, OR GET A DESIGNATED DRIVER.

Parking any vehicle in the road is an accident waiting to happen. Parking lots were developed to allow safe off road parking for normal size passenger vehicles NOT taxi buses, dump trucks, boat trailers w/boats, derelict vehicles, large trucks of any description, shipping containers, etc. etc.
