Supporters brawl over judges' decision @ Miss Jr BVI
According to information reaching this news site, the issue was over some supporters being strongly of the opinion that the First Runner Up Deyse Turnbull should have been adjudged the winner. There was apparently a trade of words among supporters of contestants.
At least two persons were engaged in a physical brawl on the steps of the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium in Paraquita Bay, the venue of the Miss and Mr Junior BVI Shows.
Police were reportedly called in but, according to Sergeant Beverly James of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), no one was arrested.
“Police was called in to conduct investigations. No arrest was made in the matter,” said Sergeant James, who added that the issue was resolved without prosecution of persons involved.
Contestant number four Joi-Ann Nikia Thomas copped the prestigious title of Miss Junior BVI 2016/17 and copped awards for Miss Popularity, Miss Intellect, Miss Congeniality and Best Talent.
The First Runner Up, Turnbull, received awards for Most Poised, Best Black and White Affair and Best Evening Wear. The Second Runner up went to Dje’Moyia Smith who took the Miss Photogenic Award.
