Struiken & Lindsay win National 5K Championship

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Top road racing athlete Clifton Struiken, who was away from the territory for the past six months, returned to take victory in the Hauteville Trust National 5K Championship held in Road Town, Tortola, this morning, July 6, 2019.

Struiken had Jermaine Ricketts and Julius Farley for company for most of the race but ended up winning easily in the end with a time of 18:14.

Ricketts, who has been nipping on the heels of Farley in recent races, finally had the best of Farley as he took second in a respectably time of 18:52.

Farley clocked 19:01 for third.

Meanwhile, Katrina Lindsay placed 4th overall and first in the women’s category with her 19:56 time.

The 5k National Championship was also run in conjunction with the final race of the Hauteville Trust 5k series.

The race started on the Mondo Track at A.O. Shirley Grounds. Runners made their way to the Purcell roundabout then to Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park, turned right at FirstCaribbean International Bank and headed back to the Mondo Track for the finish.
