ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – On behalf of Sol, Mr Ra-Shawn Smith, presented a cheque for $5,000 to the Treasurer of the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA), Mr. Willis Todman and BVIAA President, Mr Dean Greenaway, as part of the continuing corporate partnership yesterday, Tuesday November 19, 2013.

Sol has been involved with the BVIAA for 5 years now and has been very active in promoting the sport as well as the various programmes of the Association, most notably various Awards presented during the BVIAA Annual Gala Awards Dinner.

Also on hand at the presentation was Karene King, the recipient of the 2012 Sol Athlete of the Year award.

Smith pointed out at the presentation that Sol takes it responsibility towards promoting youth very seriously and commented that the company is proud of its efforts in that respect. “We are very proud and pleased to be a sponsor of the BVIAA and look forward to continuing that relationship. Sol, as a company, sponsors many community initiatives and sees sports as a driving force for youth development and we are proud to be a part of that.”

Greenaway noted that the involvement of Sol went beyond the Gala Award Dinner, which is scheduled for December 27, 2013. “Our partnership with Sol is something we have been looking for and they have been involved with several competitions we have hosted.”

Sol also sponsors the Athlete of the Year Award and The Sol National Record Programme, both of which serve as a great incentive for the athletes to gain recognition for record breaking performances during the season.
