ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – As the date for the final draws closer, the competition in the UMI Fashion’s 'Battle of the Corps' has been picking up pace and the crowd is getting larger as evident in round three held on Friday November 15, 2013. BVI Social Security Board (BVISSB) trumped Banco Popular to take the win.

Further, in a move that would see the competition getting even tenser, the public can log on to Virgin Islands News Online to vote for one of the already defeated teams to re-enter the competition in what is being described by promoter Ms Deborah O’Neal as “Second Chance Island.”

Last Friday’s battle saw one of the largest crowds at the frontage of the UMI Fashion Store in Road Town. Hundreds gathered for round three of the competition and it was the evening when team Banco Popular clashed with team BVI Social Security Board.

The team for that stage of the competition was ‘Feeling blue, thank God it’s Friday – Candy Strippers”. “That was the biggest crowd ever. It was an awesome opening, numbers each depicting what the organization represents. SSB did a skit showing all aspects of the board, including children, pregnant women and even senior citizens,” said Ms O’Neal.

Though they were no match for their strong competition, Banco Popular were extremely strong and catchy with their presentations. They showed who they provide coverage for- everyone, from birth to the stage where persons arrive at purchasing homes, boats and other properties. A large speed boat was also a part of their props.

“The panel of judges for the Battle of the Corps has a hard time but the ultimate judge will be the crowd,” explained Ms O’Neal. She further said the public has it in their hand to choose one of the teams that would have lost so far in the competition to re-enter and come up against BVI Electricity Company on December 6, 2013.

“ For Second Chance Island, log on to VINO from Wednesday November 20 and vote for the team you want to give a second chance,” said Ms O’Neal. The three teams are BVI Health Services Authority, Banco Popular and H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

The finals of the competition begin in December 2013.
