‘Social aspects of Throne’s speech laughable!’ – Natalio D. Wheatley

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Social commentator Natalio D. Wheatley aka Sowande Uhuru said that the social aspects of the Speech from the Throne delivered on Monday November 10, 2014 in the House of Assembly are the weakest parts of the speech.

He made the point while co-hosting a special talk show along with Doug Wheatley last evening November 12, 2014 on ZBVI 780 AM.

He also stated that the measures promised in the speech given by His Excellency Governor John S. Duncan OBE at the First Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Second House of Assembly are “ambitious.”

“The conclusion I have come to about the legislative agenda is that the social aspects of it are the weakest and I can justify that. The social aspects are the weakest because the social aspects represent the people mainly…concerns of people in communities,” he said.

“It is not an industry lobby group, it is not the public sector, it is not financial services. We do quite a lot to satisfy international bodies but the people are not in any of those categories and the people tend to get the short end of the stick,” said Natalio D. Wheatley.

“This made me laugh because this is the skimpiest part of the speech,” he said. He said that the time dedicated to talking about social services was meagre.

Further, he said that the response to crime has not been equal to the problem from a legislative standpoint. “Our legislative response is not equal to the actual harm that is taking place in the area of crime,” he said.

Critics of the Throne say that the speeches are usually ambitious with little of it ever coming to fruition.

    Mr. Wheatley,
Do you really think that people are impressed by your blatant disrespect for authority? You don't even do what you should yet you curse the government officials night and day. Why don't you act responsibly and then try to run for politics. Don't throw stones because we can see right through you.

      Mr. Sad,

STFU and find something to say other than how you feel.
