Sharie deCastro relishing Miss BVI experience

The reigning Miss BVI, Sharie deCastro, is relishing the opportunities being presented as the holder of the prestigious crown. Miss deCastro was last spotted at the opening of the Domestic Violence Awareness Conference on October 12, 2012 at the St. George’s Anglican (Episcopal) Church on Main Street where she delivered a powerful poem on the subject “Domestic Violence” in which she sought to inspire and empower women of such abuse. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The reigning Miss BVI, Sharie deCastro, has been busier than a bee attending endless functions but is nevertheless relishing the opportunities being presented as the holder of the prestigious crown.

Miss deCastro, a 4th generation Virgin Islander, was crowned Miss BVI 2012/2013 on August 5.

Virgin Islands News Online was able to catch up with the radiant queen at the recent Miss BVI Talented Teen Scholarship Pageant to get her comments on the experience so far as Miss BVI.

“It has been really good...an amazing opportunity to meet people and to promote the BVI culture and heritage,” was the prompt response of Miss deCastro.

The new Miss BVI had captured the majority of prizes on offer including Miss Congeniality, the People's Choice award, Miss Poised, Best Talent, Best BVI Promotional Speech, Best Personal Interview and Miss Intellect. Miss deCastro also won for herself a car, scholarship, trip with the BVI Tourist Board and $5,000 in wardrobe.

And of course we asked the queen her thoughts on the Miss BVI Talented Teen Pageant 2012. “I think it was a very enjoyable pageant, very fair, the young ladies displayed a lot of talent, poise and intellect as well and I am really happy for Kamyce Penn (Miss BVI Talented Teen 2012). I consider her to be a little sister... She is a very close friend of mine.”

Meanwhile, Miss deCastro was last spotted at the opening of the Domestic Violence Awareness Conference on October 12, 2012 at the St. George’s Anglican (Episcopal) Church on Main Street where she delivered a powerful poem on the subject “Domestic Violence” before whisking off to another function.

Best....... far reaching she has some big shoes to fill following our last Miss BVI. My biggest issue is that she lacks the charm and poise of a Miss BVI. Work in progress is all I can say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Where - It is none of your business where Sharie de Castro was when her grandparents - William and Josephine celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. But since you are so nosey - The Rhymers will tell you where she was. She was at Round Hill with her grandparents when they celebrated their anniversary on September 25th, 2012. She was the one grandchild making jokes and having fun with her grandparents and we all had an enjoyable time with them. "Where" because you did not see a photo of her on the news sites you drew your own conclusions. You need to mind your own business and find something constructive to blog on.

She is from here but to be honest she is not the type......I also want to add she needs to revamp her wardrobe. She looks too plain whenever I see her. I like her but as my queen I cant agree. She needs to look the part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Well..... Maybe you need to pay for her to play the part since as of her crowning she has been dipping into her own pocket to play the part as Miss BVI. I'll bet my last dollar your wardrobe ain't no better than hers.; or are you must be one of those who over dress to go on the beach and look the same at every function you attend.

That is not our issue, I agree with well she needs to look the part, every time I see her she looks underdressed. I mean even when she goes to school she needs to look the part. Put on dome lip gloss, some lipstick SOMETHING. Listen I think she deserved to win, but now she needs to step up to the plate. If she cant transform herself then she needs to stay where she belongs in the classroom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

TOO HMMMM: Ms. DE CASTRO has no limits so you have no right to pigeon her in any class room. She is our beautiful well deserve indigenous queen and she can be anywhere..in the class room, in the Premier’s office or with the Queen of England. She is all of that and then some now no one can argue with that!

Some people can't take constructive criticism. You are type that would let the girl walk around with lipstick on her teeth. She looks plain and certainly lacks the charisma that is needed to be a Miss BVI. All you guys say is that she is indigenous, well we the people of the BVI want a queen that looks the part!!!!!!!! SMH

To yadda yadda - whether or not you see her going to Miss Universe is irrelevant. Once the good Lord gives her health and strength to attend she will be there. After all she is Miss British Virgin Islands 2012. I am laughing at you right now because I see you as detestable.
Sharie - "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Mathew 5; 14-16

Good job Sharie. You need to speak out on the Festival Committee they are not treating you right. To The Chairman of the Queen Show committee Ms BVI needs a smaller crown and she needs her car. Who is the official photograher and who is her official hair dresser & make up artist. These things cost money. Could you please get her an official hair dresser etc or give her money to attend to such things. We have a true Queen lets not loose her now.
