Sharie B. de Castro grateful for political experience
She also expressed gratitude for those who stopped to listen to her on the campaign trail as she explained her Vision 20/20. The youngest candidate in the elections, de Castro used her knowledge of English Language to paint pictures using analogies that helped people grasp her message.
By the end of the count on June 9, 2015, de Castro had garnered 2,676 votes, making her the seventh highest vote getter on the At Large list.
“My people, the 2015 Election has come to an end and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those who supported me, those who invited me into their homes and those who spared a moment on the streets to listen to my desire to serve,” she said.
“I am truly grateful to my family and committee for their tireless and unwavering support and to the entire VIP Team who believed in me. I am humbled by the overwhelming support from you the people and I truly appreciate all of your encouraging words,” she said.
“Congratulations to the entire NDP Team and the VIP [candidates who have been successful – Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3)]. I am confident that all who have been elected will work together in an effort to secure prosperity for our country by closing the gap in our political differences and focusing solely on the issues,” said de Castro.
She noted that she has learnt so many valuable lessons throughout what she describes as an amazing experience. According to the young political aspirant, those lessons have awakened her consciousness even more to the role she should play in becoming the light, “the visionary and the agent of change we hope to see.”
de Castro pledged to continue lending her voice and vision to the development of this territory and said she will strive with a passion devoted to love and loyalty for the Virgin Islands.
