Second person charged with drugs ahead of VG Festival

Andres Arturo Bailey was found with five pounds of marijuana.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Police apprehended yet another person attempting to transport marijuana to Virgin Gorda ahead its Easter Festival.

Andres Arturo Bailey, 31 years, a Vincentian, residing in The Valley, Virgin Gorda was arrested around 1:30pm yesterday with over five pounds of marijuana with a street value of $22,000.

Police, through its Special Investigations Unit, conducted a search of Bailey just before he entered the Road Town Ferry Terminal to await a ferry to Virgin Gorda.

He was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

In addition, Police, through its Traffic Division, arrested and charged Brenton Penn, 30 years, of East End yesterday evening for unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply and resisting arrest after 121.9 grams of cannabis was found in his possession as a result of a body search.

Police have increased its proactive efforts to reduce the transportation of illegal drugs through the ports and on the streets.
