Season’s Best for 2nd placed McMaster @ Prefontaine Classic

STANFORD, California, USA- Virgin Islands hurdler Kyron A. McMaster recorded a Season’s Best time in placing second in the 400m Hurdles at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League meeting in Stanford, California on June 30, 2019.

The race was won by the USA’s Rai Benjamin, who has competed for Antigua and Barbuda at the Carifta Games. Benjamin crossed the line in 47.16, the fastest time in the world this year and his second-best performance to date following his 47.02 PB from last year.

McMaster finished a distant second in a Season’s Best of 48.94.

The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games champion, McMaster, running in lane 6, was even with Benjamin (Lane 5) for the first half of the race but Benjamin found an extra gear on the final bend and opened a healthy lead for victory.

Cuban-born Yasmani Copello Escobar, competing for Turkey, placed third in 49.37.
