Running or Not? Willock forms ‘strong’ campaign committee
“Yesterday I was a VIP member and supporter, today Julian Willock is a VIP member and supporter. Now I cannot speak to what tomorrow brings, but as I sit here I am a member of the VIP,” he said, adding “Sooner or later an announcement will be made.”
Willock’s remarks were made during an interview on the International Morning Ride Show on ZROD 103.7 FM with host Paul A. Peart aka ‘Gadiethz’ on Monday April 24, 2017.
Mr Peart consistently pressed Mr Willock to divulge details as to whether he was going to run for office in the next general elections and which party he was going to do so with.
Strong Campaign committee formed
Mr Willock, however, refused to be budged from his previous stance on the question, saying that an announcement would be made at another time.
“I will simply say to you that an announcement is imminent. My intentions will be known. I do have a strong, vibrant, active campaign committee. There are one or two things that we are working out and I have pledged to my committee to listen. I am not one of those politicians as soon as you get a little mileage you suddenly become an expert on everything; however, when the time is right we will make an appropriate announcement,” Mr Willock noted.
“We have to listen to everybody”
In his response to what his alleged meetings with Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr The Hon Kedrick D. Pickering (R7) and other stakeholders meant, the former Permanent Secretary stated that all voices must be given a listening ear.
“We have to listen to everybody, we have to listen to the investors, we have to listen to the big man, children, we have to create an environment where all voices are heard.
Mr Willock was also asked whether he believed there would be a general election this year and responded that it was entirely up to the current administration. What Mr Willock said he wanted for his country is a stable government, noting that he wants the government and country to succeed and that he was not being a political opportunist.
In conclusion, Mr Willock stated that the people want the same things, including good schools, roads and to feel safe.
“And we have to start building a country where we have to stop chattering and talking and ranting. We have to find solutions. We are not in a crisis situation where we cannot find solutions. We have to have the right leaders at the right time, at the right place, to find the solution that is necessary to build our country. We also have to engage in dialogue, not because someone holds a different view as you they must be hated or isolated or targeted, this is a democracy. We also have to understand the issue of free speech.”

Test and Trial approach.
