ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Better late than never may be what the inaugural winners of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed League, Ruff House, may be saying following the announcement by Founder of the League, Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3), that the team from the Sixth District will finally be receiving their championship rings this season.

Hon Fraser made the commitment at the launch of the 4th Annual Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball National League at the Save the Seed Energy Centre Conference Room in Duff's Bottom on June 24, 2016.

“I sat here a little while ago looking up at the banners and I saw that first league as you mentioned. I had committed to having rings for that league last year [but] something happened in communication where we were supposed to be getting the name and all the rest of it, because we have to put the package together, making sure that the right people get what is deserving of them,” Hon Fraser said in response to a question asked by Virgin Islands News Online.

The League Director, Hon Fraser, said he believes Ruff House are deserving of rings even though the presenting of rings was never a feature of the league in its first staging.

“I want to commit now that it will happen this season, that Ruff House will get rings, one way or the other they will. Even though the initiative took place after the first League, I think that they should be entitled to rings,” Hon Fraser stated.

Playing with aggression, pace, power and skill, Ruff House had secured the first edition of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Intermediate Basketball League Championship by beating Avengers 109-91 in the deciding Game 3 at the Save the Seed Energy Centre on Sunday November 3, 2013.

Meanwhile, the 4th edition of the league gets underway on August 20, 2016. Defending champions West Gunners will be receiving their championship rings, sponsored by Digicel (BVI) on the opening day of the league.
