ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – After a summer break the Territory’s track athletes and road runners are in full preparation for the renewal of competitive action which begins in just three short weeks with the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) 2 mile Series.

Race One of the Series, which features events on both Tortola and Virgin Gorda, kicks off on September 13, 2014 over on Virgin Gorda and then action rotates with the first run at the HLSCC Campus scheduled for September 20, 2014.

Organisers of the Road Runners Calendar are also reminding competitors of all ages and abilities that “awards are doled out for series winners, age groups (lots of them), schools, service clubs, under 9 years and 1 milers. So it is time to organize your group or schedule, see if you can still outsprint your peers, get up’t’hill or bring the whole family for a heart healthy run.”

In other road running, the last two races of the Ceres 10k are October 11, 2014 and November 8, 2014, with both featuring flat, fast and fun courses.

As a timely reminder to all runners it is now only 13 short weeks until the 13 mile Deloitte/Ogier Sunrise Half Marathon, with registration opening at the end of August.

Many are already deep into their build up and for them plus any who need fresh impetus there is a run taking place from the Tortola Sports Club this Saturday August 23, 2014, to Pockwood Pond (and back), with a start time of 6.30am prompt.

There will be a pace group around 9.00-10.00/miles.
