Riteway runs for Diabetes, raises $8,500

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Riteway Foods Market over the weekend raised $8,500 for the BVI Diabetes Association, when employee, Mr. Henschel George, successfully represented the Virgin Islands (VI) in the Grand Cayman Marathon.

This, according to a public statement issued by the company today, January 15, 2019.

According to the statement, George from Roadtown Wholesale Trading, was among the 29 North West employees and community members from store locations to challenge themselves with the Grand Cayman Marathon, a 26.2 mile run, in support of the Company’s Healthy Horizons Foundation.

Success

The success of month’s fundraising event, was made possible by customer donations on “World Diabetes Day” at all RiteWay Food Markets locations, according to the company.

RiteWay Food Markets also raised funds by raffling a TV.

Managing Director of Roadtown Wholesale, Mr Guy Strickland, told those gathered for the event on Sunday, January 13, 2019, last, “we are pleased to recognize and thank Henschel George, long-time Roadtown Wholesale employee for participating in this event and our customers for their generous support of this worthy cause.”

Mr Donald Turnbull of the BVI Diabetes Association used the occasion to also express gratitude to RTW, for choosing to support the association and their efforts to provide assistance for those in needs within the community.
