Ricardo Edwin accused of slapping lover who 'horned' him
After pleading not guilty to the charges of common assault, criminal trespass and criminal damage, Edwin was given pre-trial liberty but not before honouring a $45,000 bail with one signed surety.
According to the facts relating to the charges, it is alleged that on the date in question, the virtual complainant, Anna Santana, was at her Belle Vue, Tortola home in the company of another man when at around 3:00am they heard a “disturbing” knocking on the door. Before the VC could have responded, it is alleged that the accused burst open the door, entered the home and called the VC a "damn dog" as he proceeded to slap her about the face.
The male friend, who was in the home, intervened but the woman was allegedly forced to seek cover at a neighbour for the remainder of the night. The incident was reported to the police and the owner of the property. Investigations found that the louvres of a window and the front door were damaged.
On July 6, 2015 Edwin was met by police and informed of the allegations against him at which time he made no reply and subsequently denied.
Senior Magistrate Tamia N. Richards placed him on $45, 000 bail with one signed surety when he appeared before her on June 24, 2016 and maintained his innocence. He is to return to court on October 3, 2016 for trial.
