ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Naval Support Ship RFA WAVE KNIGHT has arrived in the Virgin Islands on schedule and its crew is poised to begin its many activities, including the renovation of the Old Prison Grounds on Main Street tomorrow, March 6, 2013 as part of the redevelopment of the area as a museum.

The Wave Knight-class Fast Fleet Tanker of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary will be in Road Town for the day, March 5, 2013 before proceeding to anchor to complete her three day visit during her deployment to the region on Atlantic Patrol Tasking North (APT(N)).

This is a year round commitment to the region in support of Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief  (HADR) and Counter Narcotics Operations, according to a press release from Government Information Service (GIS).

During her time alongside, WAVE KNIGHT’s Commanding Officer and Officers will host a series of official functions culminating with an evening reception with the Governor, the Premier and local dignitaries in attendance.

WAVE KNIGHT’s Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) Command Team will be meeting with the Department of Disaster Management, touring the island’s disaster relief facilities and demonstrating the support capabilities that the Ship’s Company can deliver if required.

WAVE KNIGHT has loaded HADR and UK Department for International Development (DfID) stores to support relief operations in the region. Prior to deployment, the Ship’s Company completed a HADR training package which tested and developed its ability to plan and deliver support to relief operations.

WAVE KNIGHT’s football team will be playing a friendly match against a local side on March 7, 2013.

No amount of ships will save them from the people if they do not start obeying the laws of the BVI and treating people like humans
