ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The charges of rape against Dr. Nicholas Redhead have been dropped following an affidavit filed by the Virtual Complainant (VC) in the High Court of Grenada insisting that she no longer wishes to pursue the matter.

This has been confirmed by the attorney at law who represented Dr. Redhead, Ms Valerie Stephens-Gordon. A copy of the affidavit has been served on the DPP.

Dr. Redhead had been granted station bail on February 25, 2014, according to Public Relations Officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Ms Diane Drayton.

Drayton had earlier confirmed that Dr Redhead had been charged with three counts of rape. However, following the affidavit by the VC, those charges have been dropped effective June 5, 2014, stated Ms Stephens-Gordon.

The attorney told this news site that from the beginning the VC had indicated that she did not want to proceed with the prosecution of the doctor, with whom she shared a child.

According to Ms Stephens-Gordon, it was the Police that brought the charges and not the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). She stated that despite the objections of the VC to bringing charges against Dr. Redhead, the matter still came before the court.
