Quality Construction living up to name; Gets another CDB contract
The contract, valued at $900,000, was signed yesterday November 16, 2016 at the Office of the Premier’s Conference Room, Central Administration Complex in Road Town.
Quality Construction living up to its name!
According to Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Mark H. Vanterpool (R4), Government was pleased with previous works of a similar nature successfully completed by Quality Construction.
"Quality Construction has successfully completed similar projects for the Government, and we are confident that they will remember the high quality standards that are required by them and bringing this project within budget,"
Scope of work
The Minister further stated that for the sum of $992,822.28, Quality Construction is contracted to do land clearing, demolition of existing structures, construction of retaining walls, culverts, drains and road pavements, re-sectioning of the Ghut in addition to a few others.
For the CDB projects government has expended some $10M of the $15M as disclosed yesterday by Hon Vanterpool.
"We remain grateful to the Caribbean Development Bank CDB, who, in March 2012, approved a sum of $15,670,000.00 towards these projects...To date, contracts with a total sum of $9,771,167.76 have been signed, to include Engineering Consultancy, Planning Regulations and Construction Works," he said.
It was just over a year ago, when Mr Roy L. Garraway aka Yellow, owner and director of Quality Construction, joined the pool of local contractors securing such a contract with Government.
One of the contractors, who for the first time yesterday secured a contract under the programme, declared that the prerequisites are not too stringent for local contractors.
In the first instance, Garraway secured a government awarded CDB contract valued at just over $1 million to undertake a nine month project in Huntums Ghut.

I hope there is a master plan and oversight so this doesn't turn into a straight demolition of key structures which may be historical. I always worry when demo is concerned because study and EIA are usually not considered. Please create a master plan when moving forward or we lose a bit if history and environment one slice at a time.
