HOPE HILL, Tortola, VI- Three persons were injured this morning, May 6, 2013, sometime after 7 A.M. following a two-vehicle accident on Hope Hill.

Accessing medical attention at Peebles Hospital are the wife of Prison Officer Linford Gregg and a child. Mr Gregg, the driver of motor vehicle PT 22, suffered injuries to his right knee but was still on the scene at the time of this news reporter’s arrival at 8:55 A.M.

Gregg said he was on his way from East End heading to Road Town when at Hope Hill a Mazda motor car PA 258 collided with him. Explaining the circumstances surrounding the incident, Glenn said that there was a Safari vehicle parked on the road blocking one lane. "A truck was in front of me and I passed the safari same time with the truck." He said he was already on the side of the safari when he noticed the car, which was reportedly being driven by Garrent Dixon, approaching. "I couldn't do nothing but when I see he was going to crash into me but to apply for breaks but he was coming so fast you could see his skid marks on the road and he crashed into me."

"I don't really know what happen to my wife and grandchild but they were rushed to the hospital and I am going there now to see what happen to them but I know they got injured."

Dixon declined to comment.

Traffic had to be controlled by police and prison officers who were on the scene while attempting to remove the damaged vehicles.

Everyone on the scene condemned the shanty way the Safari vehicle was parked on the road. The Safari was reportedly waiting to pick up school children. "Look right over there got a off road parking, these drivers are so inconsiderate and irresponsible," said a man on the scene.

People love driving up and down that hill speeding and not being fully on their side. The amount of times I had to come to a complete stop to avoid drivers who were speeding up and down that hill and not on their own side. I don't mind you speeding that is your business, but if you are going to atleast maintain your lane. Some people feel speeding means they have great driving skills it does not, being able to maintain your lane and drive properly means you have great driving skills. If you are speeding and you cannot hold your side it simply means your an a$$ that happened to be mistakenly given a licence.

It sounds like Mr. Gregg was in the wrong, cause even though the truck was clear to overtake the bus that don't mean Mr. Gregg was he was to wait after the truck over take to see if it was safe for he to overtake for you entering another lane of traffic that is travelling thr opposite direction. I see this happening numerous time even to me I driving going in my direction when every man jack want to overtake a vehicle in their lane. I think the Madza is not at fault for he was travelling in his lane, with the speeding the Police should be able to tell if he was speeding by impack and the measurements of the tire marks but Mr. Gregg said he followed the truck right away and wasn't clear on the on coming traffic that was a bad judgement.

I hope the victims weren't badly damaged. Tortola drivers feel they can use the public road as parking, not caring if they cause traffic to have a one lane flow. That needs to stop!

i totally agree with u! atleast u dont have your head up your a$$ like that "Really!" person. Tortola drivers feel cauz the DMV give them a licence them is the best on the road but they out there doin pure sh*t! how the hell u goin park a big a$$ safari in the road say you waiting on school children? pull on the side from forcing drivers into the other lane!

So the guy that had a safari bus parked on his side was overtaking the safari and claims that the guy who was coming from the opposite direction in his lane is in the wrong? Really? Mr. Prison Officer just admit that you were wrong. I agree that we all must be cautious but I notice the people around here drive as if when their side of the road blocked, they have the right of way to go in the other lane and that person has to wait. Stop it! When your side of the road is blocked you must wait until it is clear for you to pass, you do not have the right of way!

You sound like such a fool!!!! Were you there?? My mother, lil cousin plus another child was rushed to the hospital and this is the best thing you could come online to say!? Just STFU cause you wasn't there and you ain't see the dumb safari driver PARK in the road near a corner! He could have pulled into a gap or somewhere further up, yet he didn't and he took off as everything went down cause he know he was in the wrong saying "that wasn't my fault, i doing this all the time and i got children to drop off blah blah blah"....... Spare me the excuses! 1: Dixon shouldn't be speeding coming up no hill for his vehicle to be skidding. 2: Anytime he didn't hit the jeep he would have fallen over the cliff unto a house. 3: Safari Driver gonna go and do the same nonsence tomorrow yet u ain going come on here and say "Safari man you wrong" no you going come on here and run your mouth bout "Really? Mr. Prison Officer just admit you were wrong." when you wasn't there, you only reading what happened and acting like you the best driver, like you know it all. People like you sicken me. Stop run your damm mouth when you ain know nothing!

your father over take and went in the next lane so he is wrong. He was suppose to wait if he cannot see around the corner.

Well you go ahead, wait and see. If someone park illegally around a corner, caused an accident and then took off as law enforcements were enroute and you're looking to blame 2 innocent people for not seeing each other then you sir/madam are an idiot. The son was right and as much as you want to say who is wrong and who is right and point fingers; his son is right and instead being on here talking bad about his father for going into another lane, you should really check yourself and pray everyone injured is alright because it could have been you.

you are not a police officer if you are talking like that, if you are you need to go back to school. If you go in the wrong lane you have to make sure its clear idiot. his father follow behind the other vehicle thinking he can make it. He use the wrong judgement.

Sorry if I ruffled any feathers, I am very sympathetic to anyone who got injured and I was supposed to start off my opinion by stating that. I wish them a speedy recovery. I also did not touch on the driver of the safari and I fully agree that anyone that parks like that is ignorant and should be in someway held responsible for their lack of judgement. My comment was simply saying, your father is blaming the guy who was travelling in his correct lane which he should not. I am sorry to say this but your father was supposed to be more cautious especially with a child and his wife in the vehicle. The vehicle which was in front of him and overtook had more visibility and I'm sure he judged that he could squeeze through, your father on the other hand simply followed.

I was in an accident like that before where i was in the vehicle that was in the correct lane, thankfully I was not injured and the person who was in the wrong lane profusely apologized. All of us were upset with the fact that it had an obstacle in the road that led to the accident but there is something in traffic laws called "right of way"

Once again I apologize for seeming being as A-hole and not showing my sympathy to the injured and my disgust to the ignorant fool that parked the safari there. I was only trying to show that your dad should not blame the other guy! Peace!

Its ok...... i lost my cool reading your comment while waiting in the hospital all day. But if you read carefully my dad didn't blame the guy who hit him. He stated what happened and that he was off to the hospital to check on moms. Who i blame is the Safari for parking so ignorant and foolishly then taking off . Thank you for your sympathy, all im saying is, things could have been worse yet people look to jump online and say "oh these island ppl" "he wrong, she wrong..... he shoulda do this do that" instead of just hoping everyone is safe and alright! ppl who sit infront their computers pointing blame instead of praying for those in the accident sicken me!

Young man that not the way someone must take the wrong. Yes the driver for that vehicle did something he should not have done, but your dad needed to use wisdom. Dont come on the blog and defend a wrong. Two wrongs can nver make a right. Just thank God no one was killed yesterday morning.

I observe this all the time! over and over, the person what to drive into your lane of traffic and think that it is in their right to do so. Even some times water and pot holes they try to avoid and coming on to your lane! These pppl need to go back to driving school.

Based I what I just read the person driving the suzuki dead wrong. Just because the truck infront was passing does not mean you up and jump and play follow the leader. You have to ensure that their is no uncoming vehicles, jumping behind another car is no excuse and is the pure assousness. Just for telling me that I would revoke your licence and make you take the driver test over. If your side is obstructed you have to wait. Alot of BVI drivers do that dumb s***. They force their way through even though their side is blocked behind other drivers, it is the height of pure ignorance....

It is heart warming to see the turn in these writing. The son for stating his point and the other person for responding and the best part of all is the apologizing of both. It is the healing point. I hope other would gracefully accept when the post hurting works on these sight. Remember what is good for the goose is even better for the gander. Thanks son for cooling down and thinking straight.

Wait a minute.. were you in hibernation? Are you a driver? And if so how many countries have you ever driven?
Do you understands what the term park means?
If a vehicle is parked on a roadway, whether it be a school bus or scooter.... What should you do?

Mr. Gregg from your account of the accident, you appear to be in the wrong. Because the truck in front of you pass, that does not automatically means it is safe for you to proceed. You have the responsibility to make sure for yourself, if it is safe for you to proceed. Take Warning.
