Premier Fahie Away; Honourable Rymer is Acting Premier

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Minister for Transportation, Utilities and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer is Acting Premier effective May 2 until today May 3, 2019.

This is according to a release from the Government Information Service (GIS) which states that Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie is away from the Territory until May 4, 2019, attending the United Nations Decolonization Meeting in Grenada.

The Deputy Premier, Dr. the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley will act as Premier upon his return to the Territory on Friday, May 3.

Honourable Rymer's appointment is in accordance with the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 Section 55 (2) which states, “If both the Premier and the Deputy Premier are expected to be absent from the Virgin Islands for more than forty-eight hours, the Governor shall authorise another Minister designated by the Premier to perform the functions of the office of Premier; and the Governor shall revoke this authority on the return to the Virgin Islands of either the Premier or the Deputy Premier.”
