Premier Fahie attending Heads of Government of CARICOM Meeting

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) is away from the territory attending the 40th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in St Lucia.

High on the agenda is the implementation of measures to enhance the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME). Several other major matters related to security, and regional and foreign relations are also expected to be part of the deliberations.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Transportation, Utilities and Works Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5), will act as Premier from July 2 to 5, 2019.

Honourable Rymer’s appointment is in accordance with Section 55 (1) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 which states, “If the Premier is expected to be absent from the Virgin Islands for more than forty-eight hours, the Governor shall authorise the Deputy Premier to perform the functions of the office of Premier; and the Governor shall revoke this authority on the return to the Virgin Islands of the Premier.”

    NDP would have only gone to Uk, USA, China and the white countries
