Police on the hunt for Baugher's Bay hit & run driver

BAUGHER’S BAY, Tortola, VI – Ranks of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are on the hunt for a Burgundy Toyota vehicle reportedly carrying the license plate PV25267. The vehicle was allegedly involved in a hit and run accident at Baugher’s Bay on January 5, 2013.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 6:50 A.M. involving the Toyota which is on the run and a thirty-two seater bus carrying the name Sebastian’s Transport Ltd and license plate # S70.

When Virgin Islands News Online arrived on the scene, police were seen taking measurements, controlling traffic and taking information from the bus driver Derrick, as stated on his name tag.

In a brief interview, Derick said that he was heading to Road Town having completed an airport run when in the vicinity of the gas station at Baugher’s Bay the Burgundy Toyota, which was coming from the opposite direction at a fast pace, “he suddenly swerved over in my lane, crashed into me, reverse, and just continue going,” said Mr. Derrick.

The driver, who was still a bit shaken, said that the he was alert and was very quick in registering the number of the allegedly faulting vehicle.

Parts from the run-away vehicle were left on the scene including a broken off bumper and headlamp. The bus was smashed in on the front right side and there was evidence of leaking fuel.

There were reportedly no injuries and only the drivers were allegedly the occupants on board both vehicles.

    since the driver fled the scene,it only means two things, the vehicle may not license and insured, or the driver does not have a drivers license.
