Pirates stay alive in Fast Pitch Championship
On Friday August 15, 2014, in games that started well beyond the advertised times and for no obvious reason other than a lack of discipline, a lack of respect for the sport and no concern for fans, The Pythons duly completed their series sweep, 4-0 over the Hawks.
The final score was 19-9, with the Pythons having 9 hits, 3 errors and leaving 5 runners on base. The Hawks had 8 hits, 7 errors and left 8 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Sheniqua Fahie and the loser was Laura Isaac.
Tafara Phillip of Pythons went 2-4 with 4 runs scored and Valissia Brathwaite went 2-3 with 2 home runs, 2 runs scored and 7 runs batted in. Jheane Niles of Hawks went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in and Khiayah Doward went 2-4 with a run scored and 2 runs batted in. Pythons win the series four games to none.
The Pirates then faced a do or die game against Power Outage, having already lost the first three games. The game itself started around midnight and went on until around 2.00am with the Pirates winning, 1-0.
The Pirates had 3 hits, 2 errors and left 5 runners on base. Power Outage had 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 error and left 6 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Allen Smith and the loser was Neville Smith. Travis Malone of Pirates went 2-3 with a run batted in.
Still 3-1 down in the best of seven series, the Pirates were still looking down the barrel of a smoking gun on Sunday when once again they pulled a rabbit out of a baseball cap to win 8-5.
The Pirates had 9 hits, 4 errors and left 6 runners on base. Power Outage had 5 runs, 9 hits, 9 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Allen Smith and the loser was Neville Smith. Khalif Henley of Pirates went 3-4 with a double and 2 runs scored and Rico Penn went 1-4 with 2 runs batted in. Levron Saurauw of Power Outage went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
Power Outage lead the series three games to two.
